That's just fine though, because when you have visuals like this, an unforgettable score and a truly exceptional cast, you can kinda get away with it. Oh, and did we mention that it's also home to arguably the coolest character in cinema history? Sure, his hair is luxurious to a fault, his firearm is truly ludicrous and his vest is almost certainly made of lycra, but somehow (perhaps it's the eyepatch), Kurt Russel pulls it off and delivers one of the most iconic performances of the 80s. 

The fourth and final part of our Box Office Bomb Season of podcasts is here, and this week, we look back at the criminally overlooked, and surprisingly insane, Hard Rain. This 1998 thriller / heist movie / neo western / action movie / Die Hard alike / Speed alike is, well, it's a lot of things. Tonally, it's all over the map, the script is wildly inconsistent, and many of the actors appear to be performing in different movies, but despite its issues, this remains a wildly entertaining ride, one that is well worth revisiting today. The third part of our Box Office Bomb season of podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at, what by some estimations, might be the biggest box office bomb of them all, 1999's, The 13th Warrior. A mess behind the scenes, this was a movie beset by huge delays, numerous reshoots and a major re-edit by producer, Michael Crichton that went a long way towards pushing the budget of well north of a 150 million dollars. With a budget as big as that, it was always likely that John McTiernan's dark historical epic would lose money.....but what of the movie itself? Has this cult classic aged like a fine wine? The second part in our box office flop season of podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at the movie that 'supposedly' killed the pirate genre. That's up for debate, but what isn't is the fact that Cutthroat Island lost a huge amount of money, arguably did irreparable damage to both Gina Davis and Matthew Modine's careers, and ended up putting its production company, Carolco Pictures out of business. Yeah, Renny Harlin's pirate epic was an unequivocal financial disaster.....but what of the movie itself? Is it better than its meagre box office and rotten reputation would suggest? With a massively uneven tone, some sketchy animation and an aesthetic that many will likely find crass, Cool World was never going to be the home run that Who Framed Roger Rabbit was four years earlier. Still, that Ralph Bakshi animation style is nothing if not utterly unique, and in Kim Basinger's, Holli Would, it might well be home to the sexiest animated character even committed to celluloid. Is Steve Guttenberg arguably more miscast as the 'supposed' genius, Newton Crosby? And what of Ally Sheedy's, well, remarkable performance as the animal loving, Stephanie Speck? So, there is The Boz to deal with, his haircut and utterly unique wardrobe, the fact that this movie actually has an awesome cast and, whisper it, despite being utterly mental, might actually be quite good. Then there is the elephant in the room...what does Stone Cold have in common with last week's choice, Prayer of the Rollerboys? Well, yes, it's another early 90s cult classic, but there is also the issue of white supremacists. Did all movies form the early 90s have white supremacists, and we just forgot? Needless to say, we won't be making that mistake again when it comes to picking our third movie of 2026...surely not.

It's Christmas, and for the first part of our festive season of alternative Christmas movie podcasts, we are looking back at 2003's black comedy horror, Dead End. This low budget cult classic might not have made much of an impact on the big screen, but thanks to its wonderfully bleak premise, great writing and (mostly) exceptional cast, went on to make a huge amount of money via DVD sales. More importantly, can a movie have both pretty good visual effects and, well, perhaps the worst example of VFX in mainstream movie history? Oh, the answer is yes by the way. Still, with a genuinely compelling performance from John Leguizamo and a villainess turn from Martin Sheen, it has to be worth a watch, right?.....Right?

A movie that many have suggested is the worst video game movie ever made, but one that we would argue isn't even the worst Street Fighter movie. Still, whatever way you look at it, 1994's Street Fighter remains a stinker - the question remains though; is Street Fighter so good that it's bad or is it simply so bad that it's bad? Episode 150 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and seeing that it is the 25th anniversary of the Prequel trilogy (and that Rob isn't feeling very well), we thought it a great excuse to take another look back at Liam's favourite of the Prequel trilogy and the one that, well, Rob just about put up with. It might not have been particularly well received by critics back in 2005, but Episode III continues to find new fans, and with the Prequel trilogy now held in higher regard, it seems as good a time as any to see just how well this previously underrated sci-fi classic (Liam's words, not Rob's) has actually held up. 

Episode 149 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look at Ridley Scott's divisive fantasy epic, Legend. With an oddly forgettable performance from Tom Cruise levelled out by one of the biggest ever screen performances from Tim Curry as Darkness, 1985's, Legend is nothing if not a movie of peaks an troughs. Do the effects hold up though? Did the script survive the many rewrites and relentless studio interference? Is Tom Cruise's tunic far too short, and above all else, does the movie simply have too much glitter? We discuss via the links below. 

Episode 148 is here, and this week, Liam finally watches his first Steven Seagal movie (Executive Decision doesn't count) and Rob, well, doesn't watch his first Steven Seagal movie. 1992's Under Siege, for better and for worse, certainly delivers plenty to talk about with giant cakes, male ponytails, studded leather jackets and cross dressing all coming under examination on this week's, Hey You Guys Podcast. 

Episode 147 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1999 cult horror comedy, Idle Hands. It might have bombed at the box office, but with its killer soundtrack, great cast and wonderfully kitsch tone, few movies represent their era as successfully. 

Episode 146 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1984's, beloved family fantasy adventure, The NeverEnding Story. With strong opinions on horse deaths, suspect dragon dogs and the utter madness of mixing raw eggs with orange juice, Wolfgang Petersen's, aggressively 80s adventure delivers plenty to talk about. 

Episode 145 of the Hey You Guys podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Kevin Smith's controversial turn of the century religious comedy, Dogma. Arguably one of his best movies, and certainly home to one of the decade's finest casts, Dogma remains a hugely quotable, massively likeable, and yes, narratively messy movie. Oh, and Dogma vs From Dusk 'till Dawn, that's definitely discussed. 

Episode 144 is here, and this week we look back at one of the most influential and iconic movies of the noughties. It had a massive influence on The Hunger Games franchise, and an even bigger impact on the world of video games. The premise is one of cinema's most compelling, but is the movie as strong as the idea that ultimately drives it? Join us as we discuss turn of the century classic, Kinji Fukasaku's, Battle Royale. 

Episode 143 is ready to download, but as you can see, it's not the planned look back at 2022's, Violent Night. Due to technical difficulties, that podcast was lost to the sands of time, so in its place, we are re-releasing a rather drunk look back at Christmas classic (and yes, it's a Christmas movie), Lethal Weapon.

With one foot in the 80s and one tentatively in the 90s, Tango & Cash proves a thematic, tonal and structural mess of a movie, but one that, against all odds, is still loads of fun.

Does it retain that same sense of magic, or is that wild premise starting to show its age? I mean, we are talking about a 13 year old boy having sex with a 30 year old woman (and yes, they definitely have sex). Is it weird going back or do the combined charms of Tom Hanks and Penny Marshal make this a timeless classic? 

Episode 137 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam, Rob, and special guest Dave (with a brief appearance from Amelia), look back at the divisive, but often fondly remembered, Ghostbusters II. It might not be in the same league as the original (unless you ask Dave), but is it a genuinely good movie when judged on its own merits? We revisit this once maligned sequel to find out.

The fifth and final part of our HUGtober season of Halloween podcasts is here, and this week we look back at 1985's, horror comedy classic, Fright Night. With one foot in the future, one in the past and, uhhh, one in the 80s (??), Tom Holland's (not that Tom Holland) take on vampirism in suburban America remains as unique, fun, and downright weird as it ever was.

As bonkers as it is memorable, this politically charged horror comedy remains hard to pin down but as essential and as prescient as ever. 

The second part of our 'HUGTOBER' season of Halloween podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at David Cronenberg's 1986, sci-fi monster movie classic, The Fly. The haircuts and clobber might have aged, but the practical effects look as great as ever, and while it might not be particularly scary, it will remain a tough watch for the more squirmish of cinema goers. As 'gross' as it might be though, the movie continues to work nearly 40 years after its original release thanks to Cronenberg's fantastic direction and the palpable chemistry between its two fantastic leads. It's hard to say, and after discussing it for more than 90s minutes, they're still not sure. An unfiltered slice of brilliant 80s bravado or an overblown mess of a movie and a complete vanity project? Truth is, it's probably a bit of both. Listen in as we discuss, what at the time of release, was the most expensive movie of all time, 1988's, Rambo III. 

Episode 119 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at that other truly bonkers John Travolta performance in a John Woo movie. It might not be as fondly remembered as Face/Off, but 1996's Broken Arrow is arguably blessed with Travolta's biggest onscreen performance, and if nothing else, is undoubtedly home to one of Hans Zimmer's finest scores.

What of the rest of the movie though? Well, that's more of a mixed bag. Listen in as Rob and Liam discuss the merits of this largely forgotten 90s action gem while also taking time to argue about Tom Cruise and the Rambo saga.

Has the last 15 years (yikes) been kind to this previously maligned entry in the Indy saga? Is it a much better movie than the internet would have you believe? Considered by many to be the best of the Indy movies, does the Last Crusade hold up nearly 35 years later? Is the comedic tone an overreaction to Temple's darkness? Episode 115 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob take a look back at the final part of the Beige Volvo Trilogy, and perhaps the most bonkers of Cage's three part action epic.  

If we're being honest though, there really is no 'perhaps' about it - as crazy as The Rock and Con Air might be, John Woo's Face/Off really does take things to another level with its ludicrously high concept matched beautifully by two of the biggest on-screen performances of the 90s.  

Episode 114 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and in the second part of our Nic Cage season, we are looking back at 1997's, Con Air. Sitting somewhere between mindless action movie and perfectly pitched satire, Con Air remains a surprisingly tough movie to pin down, but one that, regardless of what side of the fence you fall on, remains one of the most outrageously enjoyable movies of the decade.

A movie that bombed upon release, but one that has since garnered a solid cult following, it remains as hard to pin down as ever. Fun but pointless, poignant but without focus, enjoyable but, well, occasionally quite rubbish, yeah, Empire Records is a strange old movie, one that, despite its myriad faults, remains as surprisingly enjoyable as ever.

Episode 110 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1983's, Return of the Jedi. Back on the big screen in celebration of its 40th anniversary, does this decidedly mixed bag of a Star Wars movie still stand the test of time for those that grew up loving Star Wars? What about for somebody who doesn't give a monkeys about Star Wars? Well, let's just say that this led to  unique and somewhat heated debate on the pros and cons of everything from the Ewoks (naturally) to the opening crawl (really, Rob? The opening crawl?). 

Episode 109 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1993's, True Romance. One of the best casts ever assembled? Cinema's most likeable sex worker? How about best couple? Oh, and then there is that unforgettable score. So, just how good is True Romance? Find out via the links below. 

Episode 108 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob (and special guest, Dave) look back at one of the most important comic book movies ever made. Rarely given the recognition it deserves, it was released 20 years before Black Panther and was the movie that ultimately paved the way for X-Men and Spiderman. Home to one of the coolest opening sequences in cinema history (no, really), the only real question was whether the movie still stood up after 25 years (damn) and a million and one other comic book movies. Episode 106 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the strangest and most erotic movies of the 80s. 1985's Lifeforce has low budget curio written all over it, but the reality is that the Canon Group gave the director of Poltergeist $25 million (in 1985!) to make a movie about sexy vampires for outer space.  The results are even weirder than you would imagine. 

Episode 105 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1986's creature feature, Critters. Is it a second rate Gremlins rip off, or a wonderful 50s B-movie throwback? Is it a legit horror, or is it playing exclusively for laughs. Most importantly though, does it still hold up or are we better off leaving the Krites in the past. 

Episode 104 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most beloved martial arts movies of the 80s, a movie that, alongside Bloodsport, put Jean-Claude Van Damme on the map and established his as heir apparent to the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Does it hold up though? Is Tong Po as great a villain as we remember? Is the dance scene still awesome more than 30 years later? Listen in to find out.

Jim Henson's, Labyrinth might be one of the most visually imaginative movies of the decade, but make no mistake, it's also one of the oddest. Does the movie still hold up? Ultra violent without the blood, a cult without an aim and a pizza....with a pair of scissors? Yeah, Cobra has plenty of issues, but then it also has Sly looking better than ever and, despite its myriad of issues, it undoubtedly remains oddly watchable. Love it or hate it though, we can all agree that Cobra is anything but boring. 

Episode 101 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of John Hughes' strangest movies. It put Kelly LeBrock on the map and is remembered fondly by many, but is it really any good? Was it ever any good? We take a look back at this 1985 cult classic to find out. 

Episode 100 of the Hey You guys podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at what was at the time, the biggest movie of all time (well, not if adjusted for inflation, but hey ho). James Cameron's half romance, half disaster movie epic might be rather divisive (just ask Rob), but few films have ever brought a more eclectic demographic of moviegoers to the cinema before. Episode 99 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most beloved blockbusters of the 90s. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves might well be a decidedly flawed movie, but it remains one that is arguably all the better for its idiosyncrasies - whether it be Costner's LA accent, Christian Slater's hair or the fact that, despite being quite brilliant, Alan Rickman is acting in a completely different movie to everyone else on screen. Yes, Prince of Thieves is far from perfect, but there is a reason why Costner remains the de facto Robin Hood for a generation of moviegoers. 

Episode 98 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1989's, Back to the Future Part II. We all remember the Nike Mag trainers, the hoverboard, Jaws 19 and the self-drying jacket, but do we remember the clumsy plotting, the goofy sense of humour or the oppressively unpleasant second act? Well, needless to say, this beloved follow up to one of the greatest movies of all time might not be quite as good as many of us remember.....but then it does have those awesome trainers. 

Episode 97 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1990's, Dick Tracy. We thought this movie bombed both commercially and critically, that it came and went without leaving much of a mark. Well, we were very wrong. It might not have emulated the success of 1989's, Batman, a movie it was so keen to emulate, but this is a movie that still made plenty of money and managed to garner 7 Oscar nominations (walking away with 3). It might not have lived on long in the memory, but despite its faults, Dick Track is a fascinating movie to revisit.

As much of a classic western as it is a revisionist one, troubles behind the scenes ensured that the final movie is a touch tonally inconsistent, but one of the best casts of 90s  cinema ensures that it remains as immensely watchable as ever....and then there is Val Kilmer. 

Episode 94 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a movie that was arguably released 10 years too early. 1999's, Galaxy Quest is one of the most beloved comedies of the 90s, but does it still hold up in this world of toxic fanbases and mainstream geek culture? 

Episode 93 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most accurate comic book adaptations of all time. Joe Johnston's, The Rocketeer might have bombed back in 1991, but thanks to its great cast and fantastic Art Deco inspired visuals, it is a movie that has garnered a passionate cult following in the years since its initial release. Is it a movie worth revisiting (on Disney +) or should this flawed tale of derring-do be left in the past? 

Episode 92 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at 2015's, love letter to the 80s, Turbo Kid. Can it celebrate cinema of the 80s without falling in to the trap of becoming too self-aware? Can it overcome its limited budget to deliver a suitable level of spectacle? Is the gnome stick the greatest melee weapons of all time? Oh, and is Liam a little bit in love with Apple? Episode 90 is here, and in the second part of our Christmas season of podcasts, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time and arguably the finest cinematic adaptation of Charles Dickens', A Christmas Carol. I mean, everyone loves, The Muppet Christmas Carol, right?.....Right, Rob??

Episode 89 is here, and in the first part of our Christmas season of podcasts, Liam and Rob will be looking back at 2005's, little watched, Santa's Slay. Starring Bill Goldberg as a demonic Santa and presented by Brett Ratner (admittedly less of a selling point in 2022), this violent take on the festive season is, well, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Still, despite the questionable quality, there is definitely some fun in seeing James Caan inexplicably show up in what is something of a bargain bin Christmas horror / comedy. 

Episode 88 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at the occasionally brilliant, sometimes rubbish but always entertaining, The Last Boy Scout. With Tony Scott behind the camera, Shane Black on scriptwriting duties and Bruce Willis putting in a top-tier leading man performance, this neo-noir / buddy comedy hybrid really should have been a cinematic home run. Sadly, everyone on set hated each other and too many big personalities contrived to make this the deeply flawed classic that it ultimately is. 

Episode 87 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most criminally overlooked movies of modern times. With a winning cast, some great writing and a fantastic one-joke premise that somehow never gets boring, 2010's, Tucker and Dale vs Evil is one of the best movies you might not have heard of. 

Episode 86 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Luc Besson's 1997 sci-fi spectacular, The Fifth Element. Do the effects hold up? Is the cast as brilliant as you remember? Did Luke Perry really get an 'and' in the opening credits? Download and find out. 

Episode 85 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1984's, Streets of Fire, a somewhat obscure cult classic that is loved by those in in the know but, well, simply unknown to just about everyone else. Does this utterly unique genre mash-up live-up to Rob's childhood memories? What will Liam make of a movie that he hadn't even heard of until a few months ago?

The second part of our Halloween season or podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1997's, Event Horizon. A movie that flopped both critically and commercially upon release, Event Horizon has nonetheless gone on to garner something of a cult following. Is it still as gross as we remember? Do we need to see the fabled 2 hour cut? Is it Paul W.S. Andreson's best movie and.....well, is it a challenging wa*k? These are just some of the key questions we ruminate on this week.

Episode 78 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob will be looking back at 1982's truly bizarre, but honestly, surprisingly brilliant, Cat People. This erotic horror / thriller might have one of the more absurd premises in mainstream movie history (no, seriously, read the synopsis), but it's also home to a great (and admirably committed) cast and genuinely brilliant main theme by David Bowie. Yeah, David Bowie recorded the main theme for this movie. 

Episode 77 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at 1989's, Honey I Shrunk the Kids. A stone cold classic of 80s family cinema for one but something of a whatever movie for another, can the good folk of the Hey You Guys podcast find a middle ground on what was a slightly more divisive movie than we (well, Liam) expected. 

What do you think? Top-tier family entertainment or forgettable filmic fluff? Is that a term, 'filmic fluff'? Well, it is now. 

Episode 76 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at 1992's, classic courtroom comedy drama, My Cousin Vinny. With star turns from, well, just about everyone who makes an appearance, and even an Oscar winning performance for the truly lovely, Marisa Tomei, My Cousin Vinny remains an infinitely watchable comedy and a surprisingly compelling courtroom drama. 

Episode 75 is here, and rather than our usual look back at a movie from our youths, we are instead looking back at a movie from, well, just a few weeks ago. From the highest of highs in John McTiernan's all but perfect original to the lowest of lows via the AvP franchise and, yes, despite what Rob might tell you, Shane Black's horrendously misjudge legacy sequel, Dan Trachtenberg's stripped-back take on the franchise is mercifully closer in quality to the original. 

Episode 74 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Roland Emmerich's 1992 zombie action flick, Universal Soldier. With Jean-Claude at the peak of his powers, Dolph in top-tier villain mode and Emmerich yet to cinematically jump the shark, Universal Soldier has all the ingredients of a Hey You Guys classic. Does it hold up though? Is this the enjoyable action romp you remember or is it something of a tonally inconsistent mess? Does the 'future' tech of 1992 feel old fashioned now? And what of the rest of America apparently being stuck in the 50s? 

Episode 73 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob revisit on of the most beloved sports movies of the 90s and one of the best coming-of-age movies of all time. Well, it is if you speak to Liam anyway. Rob, let's just say, he has a very different take on The Sandlot...I mean, really, who doesn't love Ham and Squints? Still, whether you love The Sandlot or hate it, I think we can all agree that 'brick wars' was a bad idea. 

Episode 72 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the defining action movies of the 90s, Kathryn Bigelow's endlessly watchable and infinitely quotable, Point Break. Home to perhaps the two most handsome male leads of the time and some of the most unforgettable action sequences of the decade, Point Break has arguably aged better than any of its much vaunted contemporaries. 

Episode 73 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob finally look back at Spielberg's 1993 all time classic, Jurassic Park. One of the biggest movies of our childhoods (and one of the most successful of all time), Jurassic Park delivered a sense of awe and wonder that is arguably yet to be matched and the kind of stratospheric leap in visual effects that is unlikely to occur again anytime soon. 

Episode 70 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Marvel's first big budget theatrical release. 

Spiderman, Captain America, The Hulk? Nah, let's give that Howard the Duck guy a go....oh, and while we're at it, let's put him in a totally inappropriate relationship with a human. What about duck boobs? You mean duck breasts? Nah, these ducks will have nipples. Isn't that going to be a bit, I dunno weird? It sure will be. 

So yeah, join us for Howard the Duck, a truly ludicrous movie that is surprisingly fun to watch despite the fact that it's objectively quite bad. 

Episode 69 is here (LOLZ), and this week, Liam and Rob look back at 1982's, First Blood. Or is that, Rambo: First Blood? Or...Surrounded? Wait, what? Some people know the movie as, 'Surrounded'? Apparently so. Well, whatever you know it as, Sly's first outing as the war machine, John J Rambo is often a million miles away from the 80s super hero he became just two years later. 

Make no mistake, First Blood might have been released in the 80s, but this movie is a product of 70s cinema and storytelling. 

Episode 68 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at Brad Bird's ode to 50s Sci-Fi Americana, The Iron Giant. A bit of a flop upon its initial release back in 1999, The Iron Giant has since become one of the most beloved and revered animated movies of the past 30 years. 

Episode 67 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at what is arguably Tom Cruise's most iconic role. We all thought Top Gun had been left back in the 80s, but with its incredibly late to the party sequel hitting big at the box office, it looks like a whole new generation can now fall in love with Maverick.......or not. Is Tom Cruise still a sex symbol, or does he come with too much baggage now? Whatever the case Maverick's look remains as timeless as ever, even if the levels of sweat in this movie now seem a tad mental. 

Episode 66 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Kevin Smith's 1995 ode to geek culture and commerce, Mallrats. It might have bombed upon release, but it's a movie that has been somewhat reappraised in the years since and has subsequently become something of a cult classic. 

Arguably released 20 years too early, Mallrats nonetheless serves as a timely reminder that malls weren't always depressing and there was a time in our history when Stan Lee wasn't a  household name. 

Episode  65 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are joined by special guest, Dan Goldsworthy for a long overdue look back at James Cameron's seminal 1984 classic, The Terminator. 

Is it a sci-fi movie or a classic slasher flick? Are pink lasers mandatory in the future? Was OJ Simpson really up for the role of the titular Terminator? Oh, and is it acceptable to wear headphones around the house? These questions are answered with varying degrees of success on this week's podcast. 

Episode 64 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are joined by Day Murch, a man who has worked on movies as wide ranging as Time Bandits, Captain America, Fifth Element and Star Wars.

For this podcast though, we have decided to put an emphasis on his work on nearly every Batman movie since Tim Burton's '89 classic. Yes, our 'Batsuitwrangler' has kindly taken the time to discuss his work and experience on these movies while we look back at one of the more impactful cinematic evolutions of recent times and the incomparable connection between suit design and the subsequent aesthetic and tone of each Bat-movie. 

Episode 63 is here, and yeah, we really should have waited for episode (Order) 66, but with the new Obi-Wan show on the way soon, it seemed like the perfect time to revisit the finest movie of the prequel trilogy and arguably the darkest entry in the entire series. 

Rob hates it for its plodding plot and terrible dialogue, but Liam loves it for its ambition, narrative structure and exemplary visual design. Needless to say, Revenge of the Sith left us with plenty to discuss...and even more to disagree on. 

Episode 62 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the strangest movies of the 80s. Sleazy, spiritual, romantic, good looking; I mean, I could be talking about Road House or Patrick Swayze,  couldn't I?

1989's, Road House is a movie that perfectly encapsulates Swayze's utterly unique place amongst the 'action heroes' of the late 80s and early 90s. The toughest romantic lead or the the most romantic tough guy? Swayze was a bit of everything, and here he demonstrates why a generation of movie goers fell in love with his distinctive charm, fantastic voice and magnificent hair.....oh, and yes, it probably helped that he looked rather good topless too. 

Episode 61 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Paul Verhoeven's 1997 satirical sci-fi masterpiece, Starship Troopers. 

Largely misunderstood upon  its original release, Starship Troopers has been rightly reappraised in recent years and celebrated for its potent and unique mix of traditional action movie tropes and cutting satire. 

It was brilliant when I saw it in the cinema back in 1997, but its' even better and, rather depressingly, much more relevant in 2022. 

Episode 60 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's, 1996 genre hybrid, From Dusk Till Dawn. 

With one of the 90's greatest star turns, cinema's sexiest dance (of all time?) and, uhhhh, Quentin Tarantino being a sex offender, this iconic 90s classic certainly has a bit of everything. 

Episode 59 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Penny Marshall's 1992 sporting classic, A League of Their Own. A movie with so many great performances, it's hard to know where to start, but despite being 30 years old (yikes!), one that really hasn't aged a single day and still stands as one of the finest, and undoubtedly, most likeable sporting movies of all time. 

Episode 58 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at 1993's, Super Mario Bros, a movie that is ugly on an almost avant-garde level. In a sea of terrible video game adaptations, Super Mario Bros arguably stands out as, if not the outright worst, undoubtedly the most disappointing. Wit plenty of talent involved, a huge budget and a perfectly cast Bob Hoskins in the lead role, its' hard to understand how things could have gone so wrong.....but they did. Very wrong indeed. 

Listen in as Liam and Rob dissect one of the biggest cinematic disasters of modern times. Well, modern(ish) times.

Episode 57 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at John Carpenter's 1988 attack on 'modern day' consumerism. 

They Live truly has everything you could want in a movie; Roddy Piper, aliens, great visuals.....oh, except for bubblegum. It's all out of bubblegum. 

Episode 56 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at what was, at the time at least, the biggest independent movie ever made. From the director of Mike Bassett: England Manager (no, really, it's from the same guy), comes the definitive live action interpretation of one of the biggest IPs of the last 35 years. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a much better movie than you probably remember. Based on the original comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird rather than the hugely popular cartoon that followed, this is ultimately a much darker and far more grounded take on the characters than we are now used to - the Batman Begins of Turtle movies if you will. 

Episode 55 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Roland Emmerich's, 1996 sci-fi disaster spectacular, Independence day. 

One of the biggest movies of all time with a bigger ensemble cast than you remember. It made Will Smith a household name and arguably delivered the most convincing destruction of the United States ever committed to the screen. 

It also has Randy Quaid in it. 

Episode 54 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at that 1987 vampire movie that isn't Lost Boys. 

Kathryn Bigelow's Neo-Western take on the vampire mythology might not have garnered the attention (or box office) of Joel Schumacher's all singing, all dancing 80s extravaganza, but make no mistake, Near Dark is one of the finest vampire movies ever made with one of the most memorable supporting roles by one of the industry's greatest ever supporting actors, the late, great Bill Paxton. 

Episode 53 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at 1999's, Star Was: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. 

It was arguably the most anticipated movie of all time with expectations at an all time high after the release of one of the finest trailers in cinematic history. What was to come was, well, to say it was divisive would be an understatement. Jar Jar, Jake Lloyd, the taxation of trade routes. The movie was a bit of a mess, but then, it also had the pod race, Darth Maul and the finest lightsaber battle in the entire saga. 

With Liam and Rob disagreeing on, well, nearly everything here, this is arguably one of our more interesting revisits. 

Spoiler alert though - Jar Jar is still the worst. 

Episode 52 is here, and to celebrate a year of podcasting (and Rob's birthday), we have gone for a more contemporary movie this week in the form of 2005's sci-fi masterpiece, Serenity. 

For a movie that needs to work as both a sequel to a short-lived but much loved TV show and a motion picture in its own right, it truly is amazing what Joss Whedon managed to achieve here. 

Sure, word has it that Mr Whedon is actually something of a tool, but I implore you to separate the man from the art as Serenity really is one of the finest sci-fi movies of the last 20 years and proof that a great script and fantastic cast are much more important than a big budget. 

Episode 51 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Eddie Murphy's, The Golden Child, a movie that wishes that it was Big Trouble in Little China but still made loads more at the box office. 

Does this movie holdup 36 years since its original release (36!?), or is it better left in the past? Oh, and then there is Eddie's hat....yeah, we discuss that too. 

Episode 50 is here, and this week, Rob and Liam are looking back on one of the greatest movies of all time.  Whether it be the director, the creator, the composer, the movies' producer, star or writer, Raiders of the Lost Ark represents a near perfect storm of talent in the right place at the right time. 

Is it the best movie in the series? Is Indy the most iconic character ever committed to the screen? What of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? What of it!? All these questions are answered with varying degrees of success on what some critics have called, "a perfectly serviceable podcast". 

Episode 49 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob take a look back at 1984's, Beverly Hills Cop, back to a time when Eddie Murphy was the new king of Hollywood and the disasterous likes of Norbit and Pluto Nash (remember that one) were yet to tarnish what was, back in the mid-80s, a near spotless CV (let's just forget Best Defence ever happened). 

When can you talk about the same movie while simultaneously talking about two very different movies? When you're talking about, Clive Barker's Nightbreed, that's when. 

This week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the strangest movies of the early 90s, a film with far too many ideas for its own good, and one that is ultimately bogged down by studio interference and, well, let's be honest, some occasionally suspect acting. Still, despite it's myriad issues, there is enough potential and downright madness here to justify its place amongst the pantheon of 90s cult classics. 

Episode 47 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back to the truly insane, utterly relentless, surprisingly emotional and, well, largely decent Transformers animated movie from 1986. 

Whether it be the amazingly 80s score and soundtrack, the fact that this was Orson Wells' final role or that this movie killed off the majority of its most famous characters in the first 40 minutes, there is no shortage of things to talk about this week. 

After a bit of time off over Christmas and New Year, we now return to our regularly scheduled programming with one of the most beloved, but equally forgotten movies of the 80s. Joe Dante's, Innerspace feels like the kind of movie that everyone has fond memories of, but nobody has seen for the past 20 years. Why did it drop off the map? Does it still hold up? Is Dennis Quaid's smile the most unhinged in Hollywood history? All of these questions are answered with varying degrees of success on this week's episode. 

It's still Christmas, right?  And Lethal Weapon is a Christmas movie, right? Well, depending on when you're reading this, it might not be Christmas anymore, but I'll tell you this much, Lethal Weapon is still a Christmas movie. 

Join Liam and Rob as they look back at Richard Donner's, 1987 action classic; a fantastic movie that is ultimately elevated by Shane Black's brilliant script and one of the finest buddy combos in movie history. 

Christmas is nearly here and the podcasts just keep coming. This week, Liam and Rob take a look back at Joe Dante's, 1984 monster movie Christmas classic, Gremlins. 

Merry Christmas Everyone! The third part in our season of Christmas podcast specials is here, and this week, Rob and Liam are covering one of their favourite Christmas movies of all time. Richard Donner's 80s-centric take on, A Christmas Carol, is dark, witty, satirical, incredibly meta, and has Bill Murray in absolutely peak form....oh, and it also has Bobcat Goldthwait. Needles too say, our opinions on his performance differ rather dramatically. 

Christmas is here, and so is Episode 42 of the Hey You Guys Podcast. As the first in our four part Christmas podcast spectacular, this week, we will be looking back at 1990's, Home Alone - the most successful and, make no mistake, one of the finest Christmas movies ever made. 

From John William's fantastic score and Macaulay Culkin's star turn to John Hughes' exceptional script and John Candy's scene stealing cameo, Home Alone is arguably a better movie than most people give it credit for. 

Episode 41 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob will be looking back at one of the more obscure 80s movies they have covered thus far, but one that really should be experienced by anyone with even a passing interest in cinema. 1986's, The Wraith is, well, quite unlike anything else, but thanks to some truly memorable / utterly mental performances, one of the 80's finest soundtracks, and without question, one of the coolest movie cars of all time, really is a movie that deserves to be rediscovered and enjoyed by a new generation of fans......just like Liam. 

Episode 40 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob will be looking back at one of the more unlikely Stephen King adaptations of the 80s, Arnold Schwarzenegger's alarmingly relevant, The Running Man. Half brilliant satire, half slightly rubbish action movie, The Running Man still feels like an oddly unique entry in the Schwarzenegger 80s oeuvre.

Episode 39 is here and this week, Liam and Rob take a look back one of the most quotable, and without question, most likeable movies ever made. Rob Reiner's, The Princess Bride is an amalgamation of multiple genres that has absolutely no business working, but thanks to its impeccable script and faultless casting, remains one of the finest movies of the decade and, Fred Savage's ultra-80s bedroom aside, utterly timeless.

Episode 38 is here and this week, Liam and Rob take a look back at Ron Howard's, fantasy epic, Willow, a movie that, despite being Lord of the Rings lite, manages to maintain a sense of scale a grandeur that perhaps we never gave it credit for back in the 80s. A genuinely gorgeous looking movie, one that, despite a few dated special effects, largely looks like it could have been made yesterday.

Part 3 of our Halloween Triple Bill is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Wes Craven's, 1984 horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street. 

Is the movie still effective in 2021? Has Freddy been parodied too much for the character to still have an impact or is the original as effective today as it was in 1985? 

Oh and what of the hair and crop tops? Yeah, they're covered too!

Episode 36 is here and this week, as part of our Halloween season of podcasts, Liam and Rob will be covering 1982's, maybe directed by Tobe Hooper, maybe directed by Steven Spielberg, family horror classic, Poltergeist. 

A movie that's far scarier than it's original US PG rating would suggest and far from the family-friendly ghost (ok, Poltergeist) story that I remember it being. 

Episode 35 is here and this week, Liam and Rob will be covering Sam Raimi's 1987 horror-comedy classic, Evil Dead II. Undoubtedly one of the strangest and most beloved 'sequels' of all time. 

Bruce Campbell delivers a Buster Keaton-esque performance for the ages, and in doing so, cements himself as arguably cinema's greatest horror hero....I mean, the guys has a chainsaw for a hand for heaven's sake. 

Episode 34 is here and this week, Liam and Rob will be covering the first movie that Liam ever saw at the cinema. I think we would be hard-pressed to call 1987's, Masters of the Universe a genuinely great movie, but despite some wooden acting and a somewhat limited budget, there remains something rather special about Gary Goddard's first foray in to movie direction. Whether it be the exemplary Castle Greyskull set, Dolph's magnificently feather hair or Frank Langella being, well, absolutely fantastic as Skeletor, Masters of the Universe is a movie that is arguably much more fun than it has any right to be. 

Episode 33 is here and this week, Liam and Rob (and Dave) are covering one of the smartest and arguably most underrated movies in the Schwarzenegger back catalogue. Paul Verhoeven's 1990 mind bending sci-fi satire, Total Recall is as fun and thought provoking as ever, and might just be the last great practical effects driven movie. 

Episode 32 is here and this week, Liam and Rob are joined by the good folk at Sideboob Cinema for a special crossover event in which we review the fantastic Weekend at Bernie's, and its decidedly less awesome sequel. Are these movies jolly comedies about a pair of likeable idiots caught up in an array increasingly hilarious and complex hijinks, or are we dealing with a surprisingly dark tale of corporate greed, the vacuous nature of the social elite and an obsession with the American dream and the rotten core of Regan's America? 

Turns out, it's actually a bit of both......with quite a bit of aggressive as* dancing to boot. 

Episode 31 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a movie that, well, where does one begin? A man who can hardly speak English playing a Scotsman, the world's most famous Scotsman playing a Spaniard from Ancient Egypt (with a strong Scottish accent I might add), a great concept marred by occasionally dodgy execution, a truly unique, and all-encompassing soundtrack by Queen. Yup, love it or hate it, 1986's, Highlander has a bit of everything. 

Episode 30 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a movie that, well, totally depends on who you are listening to. If you're on Team Rob, Daniel is a douche, Mr Miyagi is *ahem*, suspect and the whole movie is largely rather rubbish. If you find yourself on Team Liam though, The Karate Kid represents one of the finest sports movies of the decade, one elevated by an utterly charming and total organic relationship between its two leads and a depth of both storytelling and characterisation that elevates it above its admittedly silly name. 

Episode 28 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a movie that, while invariably intertwined with the death of its lead, still represents one of the finest comic book adaptations of the 90s. Heavily inspired by Tim Burton's Batman and the grunge / alt music scene of the time, this gritty and gothic tale of redemption remains as enjoyable today as it was back in 94. Oh, and Brandon Lee is as good....and hot as you remember. 

Episode 28 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at what might be one of Schwarzenegger's finest on screen performances. A much better film than we remembered, and in many respects, a much better movie than it has any right to be, Kindergarten Cop, despite it's truly creepy villain, remains a legitimately enjoyable slice of family friendly fun.....oh, except for the ending. That's actually pretty dark. 

Episode 27 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most resoundingly feel good movies of the 80s. Whether you're a fan of Bill & Ted's exploits or not, it's hard to argue with the idea that the world could do with a little more of their relentless positivity. 

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure remains a fun-filled experience, one driven by its utterly charming leads, but one that also does a great job of hiding some pretty heady sci-fi concepts and some inspiring (if admittedly inconsistent) uses of time travel. 

Episode 26 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at what ostensibly became the template for the vast majority of 80s action movies. It might not be great in the traditional sense, but 1985's, Commando, despite its myriad shortcomings, somehow manages to be one of the most memorable, quotable and downright enjoyable movies of the decade.  

Episode 25 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at the criminally overlooked, utterly unique and truly quite insane, Buckaroo Banzai (or 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension' to give the movie its fittingly crazy full title). 

Despite being crammed with enough ideas to fill three movies and a plot that is held together by sticky tape, this is a movie that succeeds thanks in no small part to its hugely talented cast, it's fantastically unique concept and, above all else, it's endlessly cool leading man. 

Episode 24 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most beloved and iconic movies of all time. Robert Zemeckis', Back to the Future remains as close to perfect today as it did back in 1985, a movie that, in many respects, has hardly aged a day in the 36 (36!?) years since its original release. 

Episode 23 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Katsuhiro Otomo's hugely influential, 1998 anime, Akira. It might get a big muddled in the middle, but the first and third acts of this movie are arguably as good as movie making gets.....unless you're Rob, in which case, nothing in Akira makes sense, the 'Estries' are confusing and there is far too much weird 'jizz' stuff flying about. Still, on a positive note, at least everything looks cool. 

Episode 22 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Paul Verhoeven's 1987, ultra-violent classic, Robocop. From its satirical undertones and its great costume design to the unique difference between 'spitting' blood and 'gobbing' blood, no stone remains unturned. 

Episode 21 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the finest Stephen King adaptations ever made, and without doubt, one of the most beloved and most iconic movies of the 1980s. Rob Reiner's 1986 classic, Stand by Me captures the magic of youth and the nostalgia of childhood memories quite unlike anything else. 

Episode 20 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the finest horror comedies ever made. 1990's, Tremors might have spawned six (yes, six!) largely terrible sequels, but that shouldn't detract from what a stone cold classic the original is. 

Episode 19 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most ludicrous movies of all time. 1985's, Rocky IV might not be a 'good' movie in the traditional sense, but with more songs than your average musical, a totally shredded Sylvester Stallone and a very questionable relationship between a man and his robot butler, it's hard not to fall in love with this 80s classic. 

Episode 18 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a movie that is beloved by many, but one that the good folk at the Hey You Guys podcast feel a tad more conflicted about. If ever there was a movie of its time, it has to be, 1986's, Flight of the Navigator. A movie with a great premise, but one equally saddled with a robotic Pee-wee Herman and a complete and rather baffling lack of threat.  

Episode 17 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at James Cameron's Sci-fi action masterpiece, Aliens - one of the greatest sequels of all time, and arguably, one of the greatest movies of all time. 

Episode 16 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at a comedy that, let's be honest, really isn't a comedy. There are a few laughs to be had for sure, but there is also plenty of violence, two of the craziest antagonists ever committed to screen and more than a hint of 70s cinematic grit. Still, comedy or not, Eddie Murphy absolute shines in his first big screen role while Nick Nolte growls as only he can. 1982's, 48 Hrs. might feel more 70s than it does 80s, but whatever decade it belongs to, the important thing is that it's as good now as it ever was. 

Episode 15 is here and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most beloved movies of the 80s - 1984s (definitely not a kids movie), Ghostbusters. With the reboot now mercifully in the rear-view mirror and the somewhat more promising sequel (Afterlife) only a few months away, now seemed as good a time as any to revisit a movie that, Gozer's dodgy hairdo aside, totally stands the test of time. 

Episode 14 is here and this week, Liam and Rob cover one of the most overtly 80s movies ever made. From mullets and MTV to the two Corey's and of course, one particularly oiled up saxophonist, 1987's surprisingly sexual, The Lost Boys has it all.

Episode 13 is here, and this week, we are covering one of the most bizarre mainstream movies ever made. 1988's Beetlejuice is a movie that, much like its titular star, refuses to be pigeonholed, and instead, delivers one of the most tonally varied and visually striking movies of the decade. 

This week, Liam and Rob return to the world of John Carpenter and Kurt Russel for arguably their finest collaboration; 1982's sci-fi horror classic, The Thing. With some of the most impressive physic effects ever committed to the screen, arguably the finest canine performance in movie history and, without question, the most absurd hat you will find this side of the Three Amigos!, The Thing is a movie that totally earns its status as one of the best movies of the 80s. 

A potential 18 rating, Barbara Streisand as a dominatrix, peak Harrison Ford hotness and Willie Scott being an underappreciated comic gem are just some of the things covered on this week's bumper episode of the Hey You Guys Podcast. Love it or hate it, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom provides much to talk about. 

Episode 10 is here and it's our first foray in to 90s cinema with the Bill Murray classic, Groundhog Day. If ever there was a movie for our times, it surely has to be this.  

Episode 9 is here, and this week, Liam and Rob take a look back at that other movie Michael J. Fox did back in 1985. Sure, we could have done Back to the Future, but why do that when you can watch a man turn in to a badger and enjoy the worst all-white (ok, nearly all-white) basketball ever committed to film. Yeah, Teen Wolf is here and it's just as brilliant....and terrible as you remember. 

This week, Liam and Rob take a look back at what has to be one of the weirdest, most ambitious movies of the 80s. John Carpenter's genre-packed, Big Trouble in Little China is almost beyond description, but love it or hate it, it has to go down as one of the most memorable movies of the decade.....oh, and it has Kurt Russel being (terribly?) awesome in it. That tends to help too. 

This week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the most eminently rewatchable movies of the 80s.  The 'Burbs might not be an objective classic in the same way as Die Hard or Predator, but few movies capture the essence of true 80s cinema in quite the same way as Joe Dante's loveably bizarre, subtly satirical horror comedy.

Liam and Rob take a look back at what is widely considered to be the greatest action movie of all time, a movie that many have referred to as Die Hard in a building, or, well, just Die Hard I guess. 

Does it live up to its billing? Is it as good today as it was back in '88? Is Hans Gruber the greatest movie villain this side of Darth Vader? What about its legacy or its surprisingly few video game adaptations? All this is covered and much more in what some are calling "a perfectly decent podcast". 

With Justice League making a splash and news that Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as Batman in the upcoming Flashpoint movie, it seems fitting that we revisit the movie that, admittedly unknowingly, started the DCEU way back in 89 - Tim Burton's groundbreaking, Batman.

Ok, so it's hardly a movie we grew up with (seeing that it was released last week), but we felt compelled to have a chat about Zack Snyder's (better than it had any right to be) Justice League. A somewhat unique moment in movie history, this new and improved Justice League really does do, well, justice, to the narrative and tone that was established by its predecessors.  

After two stone cold classics, Rob and Liam take a look back at a more divisive movie, one that, for all its faults, is adored by the few that grew up watching it. Monster Squad might be a tonally inconsistent mess, but it's got charm by the bucket load, and nearly 35 years since its original release, there is still nothing quite like it. Now, say it with me, "Wolfman's got nards!" 

Is Predator as good today as it was back in 1987? Has Arnie ever been better? Does Mac ever stop shaving? All of these questions are answered (except the shaving one), and much more in episode 2 of the Hey You Guys podcast. 

In this very first episode, Rob and Liam understandably take a look back at Richard Donner's seminal, The Goonies. Has it aged well, does it have the best music video of all time, what about the crazy video game situation? All of these questions are, well, kind of answered as Liam and Rob ruminate on what it might be like to sit next to them on a flight to San Francisco.
