Jesus upset the entire Jewish religious establishment by whom He associated with and how he related to the world. 

Christ was purpose driven. He came to deliver God's message of repentance and faith and glorify God through his love for mankind at the cross.

The lifestyle of a disciple is to be built on principles of faith that glorify God and build His eternal kingdom, not rules and regulations that protect our our own kingdoms.

God has called his disciples to make disciples of all nations, not to be his isolated, protected people. 

In this session we look at what it means to live with your own convictions before God, to not judge others, and grow toward maturity.

Renewing the mind is critical to following Christ.
As we renew our minds in The Way of Christ, the Spirit of God transform us.

The greatest spiritual battles occur in our mind.
Moral battles are not won through our flesh, they result from a mind renewed in Christ.

1. The last part of Jesus' command in making disciples is to teach them.
2. Jesus taught the apostles a core set of teachings.
3. The apostles delivered those teachings to the early church.
4. The core elements of this teaching are referred to in the New Testament as "the first principles of Christ", "sound doctrine", or simply "the teaching".

Baptism is the next step in becoming a disciple. 
Baptism should be our fist expression of faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Baptism was done at or near the time of conversion in the early church.
Baptism is identifying ourselves with Jesus Christ. 
Baptism is meant to reinforce our trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

The gospel literally means "good news" 
Before we can move forward in our faith we must understand the gospel.

The church is the guardian and protector of the truth. 

In this Scripture the apostle Paul instructs his prodigy Timothy on how to continue in the faith and sound doctrine even as false teachers are at the door. False teachers that we learn are pawns of demons desiring to destroy believers. 

We are shown the importance of being thankful.
That God is the giver of good gifts.
To train ourselves in godliness. 
To rest in the finished salvation of Jesus Christ.

This Scripture is particularly relevant to many of the issues we deal with today.

Believers in Jesus Christ live every day in a battlefield. 

Whether you are aware of it or not you are engaged in a war. 

A war that has the strongest, most entrenched army at odds against us. 

Today we look at the battlefield, the war, and the armor God has given us. 

The battle belongs to the Lord, yet we must remain alert and stand firm.

What does that look like? 

Today we examine the armor of Christ's victory and the sword with divine power to  destroy enemy strongholds.

Walking in faith.

When we heard the word of truth, the message about Christ and believed in our hearts, we became a new creation.

When we first gave our hearts to the Lord we began a journey of surrender.

Is what we say with our lips what we do in our life?

God wants us to know in the depths of our heart that He has set us free from sin and death. That when He looks at us, He sees the righteousness of Jesus.

Today we examine Ephesians 2:8-10 and what it looks like to be His workmanship and walking in the things He has prepared for us.

What is Biblical Faith?

What is "The Faith" preached by Jesus and the apostles?

Today the word faith is used and misused in many ways. It can be easy to misunderstand what faith is, what Biblical faith is.

Since it is through faith in Jesus that we are saved, it is important to clarify what the Biblical definition of faith is.

Rom 10:8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);  because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

The book of Esther is set in a secular culture where many different groups of nations have been conquered. The nation of Israel has stopped practicing their faith openly and even Passover is no longer celebrated.  Sound familiar? There are great lessons of faith and grace to learn from Esther and Mordecai.

It took a threat of genocide on Israel in order to trigger outward signs of faith and repentance from God's people. When the church has placed its value in this life, the wake up call for the church is the destruction of this life.

Have YOU come into God's kingdom for such a time as this?

Even after believing in Christ we tend take our understanding of trust from a broken world into our relationship with God. 

God is faithful. He never changes. He is always with us. He wants the very best for us. He always keeps his promises. 

Today we examine 2 Timothy 2:11-13 which is one of Paul's five trustworthy sayings in his epistles. These were well known sayings in the early church as concise expressions of gospel truth.  .  In our Scripture today we see that God has always been keeping his promises and is faithful forever.

John chapter 1 verses 1 through 13. 

Both Biblical teachers and philosophers have looked to the Bible for knowledge and wisdom.  Many people have placed their hope in the Word's of Scripture. John begins today by telling us that in the beginning was the Word. John wants us to understand that the Word of God is  is some One personal. 

Today we look at four points in this passage.

1) Jesus IS God
2) Jesus is the Light and the Life
3) Man is sinful
4) Faith in Jesus Christ alone saves

In a world that is turned upside down, God's Word never changes.  

Evil leaders claim deadly protests are essential yet demand  church gatherings are not.  Unjust laws oppress the righteous while the wicked continue without restraint.  For the body of believers it becomes a struggle to know what to do, it was the same for the Hebrew church. 

God's Word shows us the confidence we have to live out his kingdom in the middle of difficult times and ultimately that God's Kingdom is all that is essential. 

Hebrews 10:19-25 declares this confidence on how we can through a new and living way, draw near to God. That we should continue in fellowship more and more as we see the day of Christ at hand.

In a world that has lost its way and no longer understands love, God breaks through and show us the way.

 The prophet Isaiah said "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!"

We start by looking at how all of us have redefined love, how we live in a culture that has redefined love, and find how we can love others through faith in Jesus Christ and the power of His Spirit.
