Shergroup has come up with a new season of Shergroup on the Sofa. This series is a compilation of Facebook Live videos, conducted by our Chief Shergroupie Claire Sandbrook. You will watch new guests every week on the sofa from different industries talking to Claire about how they started their business, their expertise, their ventures and how they are solving the problem of their community.

Today Claire interviewed one of her lovely BNI colleagues, Loryn Coco. Loryn is an experienced Travel Agent who cultivates relationships while crafting ultimate vacation experiences for clients.
In this interview, they explore how Loryn's role as a travel agent can help her clients find the perfect vacation and the "value add" she brings to the table!

You will watch Loryn explain to Claire that in today's day and age people have busy lives, and whenever they have time for a vacation there are so many destinations for them to travel to. So, travel agents like herself help people find the most suitable travel destination and make the most of their trip.

Loryn says if you have a destination in mind, you can contact her company Expedia there is hardly any destination that we don’t cover. Our travel agents look into your travel requirements and expectation and then they customise a vacation for you.

When Claire asked Loryn that do people have to bear extra costs for travel agents when they book through Expedia, Loryn says No. There is no extra cost for travel agents, and we can help people better as we know all the ins and outs of the trips, we can also get better deals for the people.

Claire was first introduced to Craig when looking to join a local BNI Chapter - and he did a great job in encouraging her to join COUNTY LINE CONNECTIONS. He is the consummate subject matter expert with a great tone of voice when it comes to discussing the topic of insurance. He says his success in having a genuine desire to help people and we think that shines through in this interview. If you don't have a friendly and supportive insurance broker in your life - and you live in Florida - we recommend Craig to you as a great guy with a tremendous approach to life and business!

When asked by Claire what made Craig join insurance, he answered that more than anything he enjoyed helping people. Apart from that, he was good with numbers as he studied finance in college. So, he wanted to do something that would help people benefit their lives. Craig says he was thankful that he had a great coach who helped him understand the trade and how it works and got him to where he is today.

Insurance is a very competitive business and numerous companies are offering insurance services what makes your company and its offering unique asked Claire. To this Craig replied there's no formula we have, we only strive to step up our game by maintaining cordial relationships with our clients. We are not trying to sell insurance like everyone else, we're trying to find out about our customers, their needs, and their financial goals, and then find the best product to fulfil their needs.

After 30 years in your business, how do you stay on top of your game? On being asked this Craig says people are smart and they know they can make a smart choice, my job is to explain to them different plans, coverages, etc.

With Call The Bailiffs back on TV we decided to do some interview specials with our TV enforcement agents. Claire wanted to share with you their thoughts on the TV show, what it's like to be an enforcement agent, and how they see their role in the court process. Our kick-off interview is with Sherry who talks about her journey and why she enjoys her role and the work of enforcing High Court Writs. Tune in to get an insight into how women in enforcement make an important contribution to Shergroup's High Court enforcement service. Sherry is a great role model and we're delighted she wanted to come on our sofa and share her work life with our audience!

You will watch Claire say that Sherry has been a superstar for her and many other women who look up to her and want to enter enforcement. On being asked what made her join enforcement, Sherry said she always liked to go out and work in the field, she was a magistrate for 10 years, so she was used to the kind of work and challenges. When she saw an advert for an enforcement agent, she jumped on to the idea of meeting new people every day and solving their problems.
As an enforcement agent, Sherry uses her social skills to interact with different kinds of people every day and it helps her in adapting to a new situation every time. While on the other hand, she says facing volatile debtors, being called names and repeated visits to recover money from stubborn debtors is sometimes annoying but it's a part of the job.

You will watch Sherry say that she enjoyed being part of Call The Bailiffs but she particularly enjoyed working on Season 2. She got along with David very well and knew what to expect this time around working for the TV show. Also, she was happy that through the TV show people realized that female enforcement agents can do the job just as well and more than physical strength it takes mental grit and patience to get the debtor to pay.

If anyone watching this video is inspired by agent Sherry and wants to be a part of the enforcement industry, just do it. You don't have to be worried, every day is different and not everyone these agents meet is bad or would attack you, so believe in yourself and do it. Also, you can earn a decent amount of money in this field.

Today, Claire Sandbrook, our Chief Shergroupie, is talking about serving Notices using a process server.  We know from all the conversations with our client community that this is a valuable and much needed service when repossessing property and must be undertaken within statutory guidelines.  Not only must the Notice be served, but evidence of service must be provided by the process server as promptly as possible.

Welcome to the Shergroupie Podcast. Today, Claire Sandbrook, our Chief Shergroupie, is going to talk about Security Alarm installation and how this can help you in protecting your property assets.

Our security expertise flows from our heritage as Sheriffs.  When we were evicting trespassers from a client’s redevelopment site, we found that the trespassers were coming back on the land and then we had to go through the whole exercise of repossessing the land again.  This increased our client’s costs considerably and it was that at that point that Claire decided we could build security into our portfolio of services.  

Today we understand the risks associated with vacant land because we actually have to deal with them in an in-depth way. Over the last 17 years we have provided landowners with security at Aberthaw, Kingsnorth and Didcot power stations, the London 2012 Olympic site, Parliament Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, and redevelopment sites for London Boroughs and County Councils to name but a few of our fascinating security projects.   

It didn’t take us long to realize that our clients needed cost-effective security solutions that could be for the short, medium, or longer term as well as our security guarding options.   As we all can appreciate security guards are an expensive way to protect a property particularly in these days of increasing tech where manpower is not always necessary. 

So, we continue to innovate and put new solutions on our platform.  Take for example the solo alarm system. It's a wireless system that doesn't require to be connected to a telephone line and instead, each alarm is connected to a mobile phone network for signal and connectivity.  It can be installed on-site within 20 minutes of the engineer reaching an address. It’s compact, and cost-effective.

Tune in to the Shergroupie Podcast where our Chief Shergroupie, Claire Sandbrook, explains about property screening solution and how you can make use of this product to protect your empty and void properties. It's also a powerful deterrent for properties that could be vulnerable to squatters and trespassers getting in giving you some additional problems. 

Our screens are often fabricated in steel, metal screening which is often rented to our customers on a weekly basis. You have to have a minimum of 12 weeks of rental service for your property when using our solution. It's more like a medium-term security fix for your empty property. 

So, when you decide to go forward and invest in a property screening solution to keep your property safe and free of trespassers, you can reach out to us, and we will come down to have a look at your property. We charge an installation fee once we have carried out an audit of all the apertures that we want to screen including doors, windows and anywhere where people can get in.

Then we charge a weekly rental, an on-site survey is a risk assessment as well. We will look at the property in terms of any alarms that you might need - video alarms or wireless alarms. This is done to build up your security and keep your property safe and free of any trespassers. Traditionally this service has been used by our High Court Enforcement Officers team in the aftermath of an eviction. We've seen that usually after an eviction a property is at risk of re-entry from 2-48 hours. So, the screening prevents that from happening.  An eviction process can be followed by property screening. So, it's very much an add-on product to the enforcement action. 

However, you don't need to have an eviction to use screening, if you have a vacant property that needs to be protected by 24x7 security which is cheap and robust, then screening is a good deterrent to squatters getting inside.   

If we get a call from you then Shergroup Security will respond immediately. A phone call to our business solutions team will get your service underway with somebody coming out to look at your property. Even photos and videos of your property can work if you have that and can send it to us, so we can review.

When we fit the screening, we take care that it causes no or minimum damage and can be removed causing minimum damage. This is an 8-week investment in your property you can build it with other security systems like a steel door to ensure maximum protection.

Hello and Welcome to the Shergroupie podcast! Today, Claire Sandbrook, our chief Shergroupie will talk about Mediation services for UK landlords and tenants. Our mediation service is a way to move through getting an agreement to a landlord and tenant dispute without going through the possession claims online or going through the court proceedings to get a possession order.

Our mediation product is perfect for taking the heat out of the landlord and tenant dispute. It offers a way for landlords and tenants to negotiate the way through a situation which neither party wanted nor created. In the aftermath of the pandemic, landlords and their tenants are looking for cost effective ways to resolve their disputes.  Claire thinks mediation is a way for parties to seek agreement in a controlled setting which is far cheaper than going to Court.  

Mediation works both ways and will help resolve the disputes that crop up between landlords and their tenants and sub-tenants.   So, instead of litigating with a view to either repossessing property or claiming damages the parties can avoid the inevitable backlogs created by the courts in the wake of the pandemic.

Mediation gives everyone involved a softer landing when it comes to dealing with disputes. So, we've built up a panel of mediators led by a leading expert in this area to enable more and more landlords and tenant disputes to be dealt with through mediation. These trained mediators have experience in landlord and tenant law as landlord and tenant law has its own nuisances.

It's got to be dealt with by mediators who understand the law and the landlord and tenant relationship so that an agreed way forward can be achieved.  As in many changes in the decade starting with 2020 mediations can be conducted in an online environment which we think is a positive thing. So, there's no need for the parties to travel to a remote destination.  Instead, it can all be conducted with the mediator in a communication channel such as Zoom. It's a huge plus point that technology has offered which is also very cost-effective for both parties. 

Mediation gives people an opportunity to express what they are feeling and to get a date far quicker than using the forum of a civil court to settle a dispute.

Hello and Welcome to the Shergroupie podcast. Tune in to our Chief Shergroupie, Claire Sandbrook where she talks about the importance of concrete barrier blocks and how they help in keeping the trespassers out of your property.  As a leading provider in the world of enforcement, Shergroup Enforcement Agents have been playing an active role in enforcing possession orders against trespassers and tenants for landlords across England and Wales.  We have been doing this for the best part of three decades in a safe and controlled business operation.  

One of the important parts of our role is to risk assess a site to establish if trespassers can get back on to land while we are trying to evict them. So, our whole service comes from our experience of having to stop trespassers from getting on to sites – however determined they may be.  

In protecting land, fields, derelict land, car parks, construction sites or any other open space from trespassers setting their encampment one of the easiest things to do is to drop concrete blocks across the entrance to a site.  

Moving these heavy blocks carries an element of risk. We only use trusted partners to deliver the blocks to the site and drop them exactly where they are needed.  When the risk of trespass has passed then our contractors come back and pick them up.  

Blocks are rented by the week; and we can tell you how many blocks you are going to need to create a successful barrier, for the whole site/perimeter.  Placing the right number of blocks in the right place will deter trespassers from getting access.  

Our past clients include local authorities, car parks, power stations, petrol stations, building sites and farmers to name but a few who don't want any unauthorised visitors on their land.  9 times out of 10 they contact us not only to enforce possession orders but to secure their land.

Concrete blocks can also be used in the market just to control traffic, pedestrian or vehicles, and these blocks are strong enough to withstand terrorist attacks and ram-raiders.

Hello, and welcome to the Shergroupie Podcast. Today, Claire Sandbrook, CEO Shergroup is going to talk about how to grow your perpetual traffic using your business photos. 

As a business owner Claire is often asked how to create consistent content for a website, a blog, and just generally to keep things moving forward in this era of social media? According to Claire the key is to use the business resources that are available to create content. Every business is trying to grow their community and get more customers. One of the best and simplest ways is to use photos to help you build sustainable content. Photos are one of the cheapest and most inexpensive ways for you to promote your business. And you're probably sitting on tens, hundreds, if not thousands of photos. 

And even if you don't have that many photos, then it's time to pick up your phone, with a good camera on it and start taking pictures. Because people are inquisitive to know what it is that you do. And certainly, as you serve more content up about what you do and how good you are, how skilled, how professional, people really can, provided they're the right audience, they will join your community and they will be your biggest supporters actually. Just be creative about how you click a picture, that's what we've been doing for this month, which is photo month in Shergroup.

We've been looking at our archive and picking out some of our favorite milestone pictures, really, and putting them into black and white, and just having some fun. Just sharing those photos, which we've never shared before. 

We use photographs to tell our story. So that's a bit about Shergroup. Now, what about your story? What can you photograph in your business? The products you make, the supply, how you supply them, the services that you supply, your team, out and about, delivering, in their workplace, happy, and working for the customer, which I'm sure so many of you, that's your reason for giving great customer service, and happy customers, if they're prepared to be photographed.

In a sea of imagery from real photos to stock photos to user generated photos, you've got to make your brand stand out, you know that. So how can you do that? You can use stock photos particularly and can make them your own. We use iStock photo, which we've used for, over 10 years. And just recently, we've started using Canva really seriously. And these tools are cheap. But you've just got to watch the cost of the tools that you set up because they all start to stack up, as little costs, little overheads to the business. 

And then when you've got your images, and you've got great photos place them on your website, create a Facebook page, create an Instagram page, create a Twitter page, a LinkedIn page, a Pinterest page, definitely, and YouTube. Now, you won't use photos on YouTube, you need video for YouTube. But you can bunch your photos up into some kind of slide deck and create a YouTube content from moving pictures.

So, you just post the same content on all these channels. You don't try and do different content for different channels. You will try and do different content for different audiences, but your same content you can create on every channel because every channel has a different set of audiences.

IN THIS EPISODE |  Chief Shergroupie, Claire Sandbrook, explains how our Cashflow Solutionss can help you collect in your unpaid invoices, escalate to legal claims, and finish the process by transferring judgments to the Shergroup Legal for enforcement.  Since 1995 Shergroup has been adding value to its function as Sheriffs, and now High Court Enforcement Officers, by helping crediitors with a range of different commercial profiles.  It was our first diversification outside our heritage as Sheriffs and we have enjoyed collecting and litigating on B2B and B2C debts ever since. 

Our process follows the 3 tiers of function of in a logical flow as part of our overall Cashflow Solution.  These tiers are |

• Collection
• Legal
• Enforcement

In the first tier – Collections - we offer a NO COLLECT NO FEE service to help our creditor clients feel comfortable in outsourcing their debts and claims to us.  We don’t want our clients worrying about the cost of doing this.  Our commission starts at 15% + VAT.   There are no hidden extras, or hidden set up fees.  We also encourage our clients to review their terms and conditions of business, so our fees are recoverable from their customer wherever possible.  Why should your business lose a slice of your invoice debt from your late paying customer?  

The Collections process has a standard cycle of 30 days and the last step in that cycle is to send a FREE Letter Before Action (“LBA”) to warn our client’s customer that legal proceedings will be taken if they do not pay or put forward an acceptable offer.  

If the Letter Before Action doesn’t prompt payment we move to the Legal tier of our process. 

Our sister company, Sherwins Limited trading as "Shergroup Legal", carries out this part of the process.  We charge fixed court fees and the court fee to issue as a simple way to move through this part of the recovery process.  Today we can help a business manage its Accounts Receivables function, from start-ups to multimillion businesses.  

The end result of the legal process will be a judgment in our client’s favour.  

Enforcement is the final tier of our process and its where it all started in Shergroup, when we were appointed Under Sheriffs.    Today Writs of Control issued by the High Court give us the authority to enforce payment from people named on this historical document.

Judgments over £600 in value (made up of the debt, interest, costs, and late payment interest), are transferred to Shergroup Enforcement for a High Court Writ of Control to be issued.  An additional fee of £156 is charged to cover the management and court fee for this process.

This uniqueness in our 3 tier process, makes up the cliché of our ONE STOP SHOP.  Only a few companies can enforce payment.  We are the only High Court Enforcement provider that through our history can do the entire process from start to finish in a professional and client-friendly way.

Hello there! As we all know, 2021 has been a challenging year for the reasons best known to the world at large. Over the decades Shergroup has worked in a world where businesses struggle. Businesses can struggle to recover cash and property, and we knock on the door of businesses who are struggling to pay what's due. And so, living with struggle has been part of our story. But there comes a point when we must turn all that hard work into something more positive. 

Today we think there is a ton of opportunity for businesses to pivot and turn adversity into a new story. So, while we continue to help our community with our traditional solutions in Cashflow and Property, you will see us widening our portfolio of solutions for business through our business hub. These new areas are all tried and tested by the Shergroupies.

Tune in to our Chief Shergroupie, Claire Sandbrook talking about the forfeiture of commercial property in the UK and how Shergroup can help the landlords in getting back possession. Often landlords reach out to Shergroup when their tenant has breached one or more clauses of the lease. To get back possession and terminate the commercial tenant lawfully we are able to support landlords by taking the “forfeiture” route. 

Of course, over the period of the pandemic landlords in the UK have been restricted in what they can do to enforce the forfeiture clause in their commercial tenancies. 

 It has been a tough time for the landlords, but we see an end in sight to the moratorium so that landlords are free to deal with their property portfolios free of restrictions. 

As you may know if there is a breach of a commercial lease term, and the lease expressly contains a right to forfeiture clause, then you can lean on that to remove the tenant under the forfeiture provisions. 

However, currently this remedy is only available for breaches other than the non-payment of rent, such as subletting without permission, assigning without permission. 

If this is a route you can take, then we offer a one stop shop forfeiture service at a fixed price. On receiving your instructions, we instruct one of our enforcement agents to use the non-high court route to re-take possession. 

With enforcement agents working in all 105 postcodes of England and Wales, we are able to remove your tenants and their employees at the time of attendance. Our national panel of enforcement agents have been hand-picked by Claire Sandbrook herself over the last 20 years and you can see Shergroup's team in the TV Show, "Call The Bailiffs | Time to Pay Up".

 All you need to do is to complete the formality of getting possession back by changing the locks and then being able to remarket the property. 

Shergroup provides as much support as you need through the process. We will agree the date that you need to fit in with your plans. 

And if you need your Section 146 notice served then we can arrange for this to be done, again by one of our enforcement agents. This is a good way for us to assess what is happening at your property and whether we are going to meet any resistance when it comes to forfeiting the lease. 

Please note our forfeiture service is strictly for commercial properties, as residential tenants are protected from eviction under Section 3 of the Protection From Eviction Act 1977.

In this Podcast Claire talks about how to enforce payment of an Employment Tribunal Award, or ACAS Settlement Award, when usually the employer doesn't want to pay up.  Use this service if you have been awarded compensation against your former employer, either by an Employment Tribunal or by ACAS, and you haven’t received your money. This can be a very difficult situation for a former employee - because they want their money, but going up against a former employer who lost in proceedings can be intimidating. 

Whatever the amount, and as long as the Award is not more than 6 years old, we can help you.  You can use this service as soon as your employer defaults in making the payment.

All you have to do is upload your Award paperwork (every page please) and fill in your details.  We charge just £66.00 which is the Court Fee for sealing the paperwork which gives us our authority to enforce payment.  This is called a Writ of Control.

 We can understand if you have put off the enforcement of your Award and don't really want the hassle.  But it's worth a try.  Don't give up.  You're entitled to interest on your Award which can be significant as it is growing at 8% per annum.  That's better than any bank rate at the moment.  

Also if you used other enforcement agents and they couldn't get a result for you we would like to see if we can help you.  You can instruct Shergroup to see if we can do better, and before doing this you can talk to us about your enforcement experience.  We will soon get a feel for whether you have a chance or are wasting your time.   

Our service involves converting the Tribunal or ACAS Award into a High Court Writ of Control, which gives our High Court Enforcement Officer and her enforcement agents legal authority to take legal control of the goods of your former employer.  This then puts you in the position of a creditor.  So, if your former employer refuses to pay your Award, then goods can be taken to be sold to pay your Award.  We can’t guarantee you 100% success, but it certainly puts you in the driving seat and gives you a good chance of getting paid quickly.

Just scan or click photos of each page of the Award paperwork and click on the “Upload” button.  Then fill in your details, and pay the fee.

Listen to our Chief Shergroupie, Claire Sandbrook, explain the benefits of transferring your County Court Judgment (CCJ) to her and her team.  Claire is now entering her fifth decade as an enforcement professional and has worked on every major initiative that has seen this area of enforcement move forward.

That helps you because when you choose Shergroup High Court Enforcement, you are entrusting your enforcement with a tried and tested team with over 100 years of operational experience between them.

If you have come out of the Courts of England and Wales holding a piece of paper that says you have a judgment for a sum of money, then this is the team you want on your case to give you the best possible outcome to turning your judgment into cash. 

You should have a County Court Judgment in your documents which will have been sent to you by the Court on a Form N30 after you have requested judgment.  This judgment is enforceable for up to 6 years from the date it was made.

It may be enforceable for longer than that if you can build a case to say what you have done to try and enforce it over the life of the judgment.

For County Court Judgments obtained in the last 6 years which are over £600 in value – which is stated in the box on the front of the form, we provide a simple service to turn that judgment into a High Court Writ of Control.

The benefit of doing this is that you will be able to access our network of licensed enforcement agents who work across England and Wales, to deliver a fair yet firm approach to people who don’t want to pay you your money.

We charge a ONE TIME FEE of £156  which is the only fee you will be charged.  If we are successful in recovering the money from your debtor you will get back this fee as part of the money we recover for you.

When we transfer your judgment to the High Court we will add interest at a rate of 8% per annum from the date that your judgment is transferred.  Usually, this is the date the County Court issues a Form N293A and this will usually be done just after you buy this service.  If your judgment is over £5,000 in value then you will be entitled to interest at 8% per annum from the date of your county court judgment.

So we encourage you to dig out the County Court Judgments in your favour and send them to us for enforcement.
