I co-directed a sexual abuse treatment program called Parents United in Santa Fe, New Mexico until 1991 before going into private practice full time. I have been a psychotherapist treating children, families, couples, and individual adults for over 30 years, and I have worked extensively with abuse and dysfunctional family dynamics, their aftermath, and some of the most important elements for healing. I have also published two books, A Light in the Darkness and Into the Fire, and I have a new book America in Therapy. I live in Taos, NM and I retired from my practice and focused on writing.

In 2015, I was a normal guy with a really great job, a beautiful family, a great home, a great dog, and a generally happy life. As the Director of Operations Development at LMI Solutions, I was the king of my own little hill, creating amazing business development solutions for the company that varied wildly from building ERP software for the company to establishing entire departments, all in the name of growth. The times were great, and the whole thing was genuinely fun.

But unfortunately, I also have this thing called Sickle Cell Disease – a serious and disabling blood disorder – and on February 29, 2016, sickle cell took my vision in my right eye (after already taking my hearing in my left ear 4 years prior), and I lost my job over it because I was now a safety hazard. Really.

So just like that, there went the wonderful job, and all that came with it (family included). At the time, I was too young and foolish to know that I should at least ask for some sort of severance pay, and I instantly found myself struggling to not only learn to read again with my remaining eye but also, how to work and pay bills again.

Within 6 months, I’d figured out how to do both, but this time, I’d create glorious things, not for another employer, but instead, for myself and my own clients. And thus, the entity known as Oxford Pierpont was born.

For over half a decade now, I have worked to provide incredibly polished and efficient business development services to small business owners and multi-national corporations alike, and the experience has been nothing short of incredible.

More importantly, I have gained so much personal value from meeting and consulting with hundreds of business owners at all stages of the process, and in that process, I have changed lives.

I love helping others but I have a tough time selling myself. So here are six quick things about me and my work. Quick and easy so no one gets hurt.

1. I've built a series of online businesses that range from e-commerce to content to large online service enterprises. I have dozens of amazing team members around the world that help me to complete this work and have built incredible relationships with them even though we've never met in person. I have helped clients around the world to grow their businesses and inspire them to build bigger than they ever thought possible.

2. I hate social media because I do not believe in self-promotion. My actions speak louder than my words. Unfortunately, my CMO says I have to do this.

3. I started in finance after deciding I didn't want to be a doctor and this gave me the skills to recognize a really strong business vs one that won't stand the test of time.

4. I have two incredible young daughters. My oldest has a knack for voice-over work and is on track to have saved for retirement by the time she will be in her early 20s.

5. Here's how I sum up what I do: I find something I'm interested in, I determine if it is sustainable, I find the right people that I can trust to help me, I empower them to make decisions and then I get out of the way.

6. I am a stickler for principles. This has served me well in my life and those that understand my principles, love me for them. Those that don't get it, struggle with it. I always stay true to who I am.

Avigail was born in 1974, the third of eight children. She got her first teaching job in 1996, in a school for immigrant children in queens New York. That same year, she ran a Sunday school for Jewish public-school children.

She got her B.A. from Touro College and completed her graduate studies at the graduate school for Special Education in Manhattan, New York. She married Daniel Gimpel in 1998 while teaching in an all-boys Jewish orthodox elementary school. In this school, she developed an intervention program for students struggling with ADHD symptoms.   

She and Daniel moved to Israel soon after their marriage. Avigail continued her education there, where she read to children with dyslexia and earned advanced degrees in teaching and cognitive education for children with ADHD symptoms. In 2003, she and her husband, with three small children, moved to Moscow, Russia. There she taught in three different schools and supervised the English department in one of the schools.   

Upon her return to Israel, she immersed herself in studying and developing treatment options for ADHD for her own six kids and many struggling students. She collaborated with her father-in-law, Dr. Amnon Gimpel (psychiatrist and neurologist), and developed a parent training program. She also developed a teacher’s training program. Avigail teaches at Hertzog College and lectures in Israeli schools and to parent groups all over Israel. She works in private practice, training parents to become ADHD coaches to their children, while spouses learn a new love language to communicate with respect.  

She recently published her first book, “HyperHealing,” based on many years of research and practice, both as a mother of children diagnosed with ADHD, as well as a classroom teacher of children struggling with ADHD symptoms.  Her second book, "HyperHealing, Show Me the Science," is expected to be published in the next few months.

I’m the youngest of three sisters and was submerged in music from an early age. I entered my first talent contest aged 6, singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow.” This marked the beginning of my love of music and performance. I studied classical piano and singing and, in my teen, developed a love affair with Jazz, a challenging genre that touched me deeply, possibly because the complexity of this style reflected the events occurring in my life at that time.

I experienced some rare medical conditions in my early years, being declared as being 1 out of only 5 children like me to be afflicted in the U.K. at the time. 

The ongoing traumas of my early childhood inevitably played a significant role in suppressing my confidence throughout my life. But I graduated from Leeds College of Music with a B.A. (Hons) in Music, specializing in Jazz. I released my debut album in 2012 called "A Sin With Love," then three more singles after that. I also released two singles with a New York record label.

In the latter part of 2019, I decided to explore something different and embarked on a sidestep into voice-overs, voicing for radio, corporate events, international voicemail, businesses, animation, and experimental poetry.

I have a YouTube channel where I have interviewed musicians, such as Ronnie Scott’s saxophonist, Derek Nash, Rat Pack legend Buddy Greco, and Clint Eastwood’s son, Kyle Eastwood.

At the start of 2021, I was chosen to participate and have now completed a business acceleration growth course run by the Welsh government. I went on to win The Accelerator Award — something I am very proud of!

I just created a Battle Buddies app, which will be released in March 2022 to reduce the suicide rate of our veterans, given that more than 25 veterans take their own lives each day. With this app, a distressed veteran or active soldier can connect to a familiar voice from their Armed brothers and sisters. The battle buddy will provide one-to-one peer support to aid veterans in getting the professional help they need. An app like this can potentially have a 100% survival rate.

I had it all: the six-figure income by age 28, the life that looked good on a résumé and social media, but inside, I was screaming.

The glamour I had created was so convincing that even I believed it. I wanted so badly to make everyone happy that I tried to perfect being perfect. I even tried not being “too perfect” so I could be relatable. Succeed but not be too successful so I was more likable. Be smart but not too smart so I was approachable. Be pretty but not too pretty so that I would be taken seriously. Yet the more I did this, the more lost and detached I felt from myself.

It took me five years to reacquaint myself with who I was before I was told who to be. And now I am writing a novel about this same kind of discovery, yet it is set in the 1800s. All the trials and tribulations of this most intimate and intricate heroine’s journey lead back to herself.

There are many self-development books out there but where I saw a need was in the fictional books that demonstrate consciousness and mental wellness. To enlighten and entertain is my goal.

Vikram Deol is a 39-year-young serial entrepreneur who grew up on the right side of the tracks and, like a stray dog, loved to roam over to the side of town where a Tommy Hilfiger-wearing-110-pound skinny Brown boy shouldn't have been roaming.
