God's bucket brigade is a ministry whose mission is to bless and love the homeless and less fortunate by providing help for today and hope for tomorrow. 

They do this by assembling five-gallon buckets filled with personal necessities—such as toilet paper, bottled water, wet wipes, a Bible, hygiene kits, snacks, a flashlight, and a first aid kit—and distributing them directly to people living on the streets or in camps. 

The organization focuses on meeting people where they are, building trust and relationships, and connecting them with additional resources and services as needed. 

God's bucket brigade operates in several cities and partners with churches and volunteers to assemble and distribute the buckets, making it a ready-made outreach program for those who want to get involved in serving the homeless.

Interviewed Zack Nicholson with Minding the Gap in Kansas City a ministry that addresses literacy in schools, supports school staff and does after school christian clubs in Kansas City. 

Zack highlighted the alarming statistic that only about a third of U.S. students read proficiently by third grade, increasing their likelihood of dropping out of high school by four times. Got to discuss Kansas City transportation with Michael Miller!!!

We addressed transportation challenges in Kansas City, particularly in the east side of the city where a lack of jobs and labor force forces residents to seek employment elsewhere.

We have noticed the city's efforts to address this issue through the development of a new ride public ride system called Iris. Later, we discussed the importance of parental guidance in navigating life's challenges, particularly for single mothers, and the potential advancements in transportation systems to benefit low-income areas.

Conversation about the difficulties faced by individuals without transportation, including the economy of time, cost, and complexity of public transportation, as well as the potential drawbacks of car ownership. 

We also discussed ways to create jobs in underserved neighborhoods through improved urban transportation, emphasizing the potential of entrepreneurship and small businesses.

Have  you ever heard of Racers for Christ!

I hadn't before meeting Justin Lawson.

Justin Lawson grew up around racing, with his grandfather and father both involved in the sport. Were talking about open wheel racing, on 3/8 to 1/2 mile Dirt Tracks (Open wheel racing refers to exposed tire and wheel cars, different from stock cars like NASCAR.)

In our interview we took a Zig Zagging pathway of discovery through racing details, health struggles, and rediscovering God. Around 23:30 is where we focusing on Racers for Christ.

It's incredible the journey that we are on God always has an intent to bring us into our fullness in partnership with Him.

Bryan shares their mission of building intentional, long-lasting relationships that transform lives and create new beginnings. City Serve KC, on the other hand, works closely with logistics and transportation, sorting and distributing goods donated by companies like Amazon, Costco, and Walmart. They partner with local churches and faith-based nonprofits to share these items while equipping them to share the Gospel effectively.

Business in the Bible! 
During our prayer meeting in September, one topic that came up was the significance of the marketplace or the workplace in the Bible. Scott mentioned that during one of his spiritual retreats, he sought clarity on whether there was legitimacy in a calling in the marketplace. He was led to various passages in the Bible, including Exodus, where Moses commissioned Bezalel to fabricate items for the tabernacle. This was the first recorded instance in Scripture of a person being filled with the Holy Spirit, and it highlighted the importance of craftsmanship and work.

Scott also delved into the Hebrew word "avodah," which is used interchangeably in the Old Testament for work, worship, and service. This reveals that our work can be an act of worship unto the Lord. Worship isn't limited to church services; it extends to our daily vocations, whether we're craftsmen, accountants, salespeople, leaders, marketers, or any other profession. All of these can be done unto the Lord as an act of worship.

Scott then shared other key references from the New Testament, such as Jesus' first recorded words about being about His Father's business and the story of Stephen, the first martyr, who was appointed over a business-related task. These examples validate the legitimacy of a calling in the workplace.

Business Insights:
Another important topic discussed during our prayer meeting was the concept of rest. Scott mentioned a book by Andy Mason titled "God with You at Work," which emphasized the performance of rest. The idea is to cease from striving and selfish ambition, entering God's rest even while working. This type of rest leads to increased creativity, reduced conflict, and less anxiety.

10 Day Retreat:
Scott also touched upon his recent 10-day spiritual retreat. He shared that the first revelation was about returning to our first love, based on Revelation 2:4. The Church of Ephesus had done many good things, but had lost its first love for Christ. This highlights the importance of maintaining intimacy with Jesus as a hallmark of our faith.

Additionally, Scott discussed the concept of the "fifth column" that he learned about during his retreat. In history, a fifth column referred to infiltrators sympathetic to a cause who were inside a city or organization. Scott related this to the church, suggesting that we should be mindful of what has infiltrated the church, especially in turbulent times. God will start cleaning up His house before addressing external issues.

What is the Collektive Company in Kansas City? 

In this interview I speak with Damion Cooper who is the founder. Bringing music, gospel teaching, and a lot of energy the Collektive Company engages the upcoming generation where they are at and invites them to greater meaning and purpose with God. 

Damion was on the path of becoming a professional soccer player. He was invited to join feeder teams in Europe (A possible on ramp to more pro roles in the sport). We spoke about how God changed the trajectory of Damion’s life of serving God in soccer to scoring on a different field.

It’s hard to capture the possibilities of a ministry like Collektive Company. It reminds me of Acquire the Fire, otherwise known as Teen Mania and has the boldness of Let Us Worship with Sean Feucht. Its purpose is to interview those who are focused on Christian based trauma and emotional healing ministries in Kansas City.  These ministries help those who are dealing with spiritual heart issues. I interview counselors and organizations who help individuals overcome their internal struggles. A few examples of these struggles would include grief, identity, or misunderstanding of God.

After thinking about it and praying for some time, I am going to start publishing the Joy Valley podcast on both Faith Horizons and Joy Valley. To identify the different episodes, I will put Joy Valley in the titles of the podcasts that are Joy Valley.

 I would like to excitedly announce that Faith Horizons has a new studio and is now beginning to put out videos as well as podcasts. This has been a long-term goal of Faith Horizons and it is awesome to see it begin to come to fruition.

This conversation is the first of two parts I had with Eric and Chris Chia. In this first part I talked with Eric.  

The term "faith without works is dead" can be found in James 2:17. I have heard this over and over again so often that it starts to lose it's wake up value! 

In my interview with Eric Chia we spoke a lot about taking risk, another way of stating the scripture in James could be (faith without risk is dead).  

In our conversation we talked about the risk of following God, the opportunity and need for the church to participate in business and new innovations such as Web 3.0, block chain, and bitcoin wallets. This conversation got up close and personal!  
 
As the body of Christ, we have the choice to participate or not participate in new technology. I personally believe there are patent-worthy ideas in the store houses of heaven and God is looking for the right people to be the stewards of these patents.

The main objective of Jesus coming to earth was to reestablish the kingdom of God or the domain of God on the Earth. At the beginning of the gospels, you hear about John the Baptist who came crying in the desert repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. 

Jesus spoke often about the kingdom. Here are a few passages that come to mind: seek first the kingdom of God; or the kingdom of God is like a man who found a treasure in a field and he sold everything he had and bought the field. Have you ever heard the term keyholder?
 
For instance, that person is the keyholder of such and such restaurant or the keyholder of a specific bank. A keyholder has access to everything the key they possess opens to them.
