In the 5th episode of the series on the April 1, 2024, Legado Luxury Apartments Fire in Prescott Valley, AZ, CAFMA’s honored to have Prescott Valley Police Chief Bob Ticer join us. You’ll hear firsthand accounts from Chief Ticer and Chief Freitag about the coordinated efforts between CAFMA and area law enforcement to ensure the safety of residents during this critical incident. Dedication, teamwork, and strategic planning played a crucial role in the early moments of the fire response.

Total Legado Fire Reward now $55,000

The reward is for information related to the Legado Luxury Apartment complex fire and two cases of Aggravated Criminal Damage that occurred at Bradshaw Mountain High School has increased to $45,000.00. A generous donation of an additional $5000.00 has been received from a community member. Anyone with information about these incidents or identification of the individual(s) who may be involved is asked to contact Yavapai Silent Witness at 800-932-3232 or submit a tip online at www.yavapaisw.com.

To be eligible for this reward you must submit the tip to Yavapai Silent Witness at the 800-932-3232 or online at www.yavapaisw.com. Remember Yavapai Silent Witness will never ask for your name or contact information. Tips are anonymous.

In addition, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has a tip line which is separate from Yavapai County Silent Witness. This CAFMA Connect episode is number one in a series covering the April 1, 2024, Prescott Valley, AZ, Legado Apartment fire. The fire was successfully extinguished due to the rapid response and seamless coordination between the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA), Prescott Fire Department, and Cottonwood Fire Department Ladder 411, alongside support from the Prescott Valley Police Department, Prescott Regional Communications Center, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, and numerous other assisting agencies. There were no injuries reported and neighboring buildings were protected.

TIP LINE INFORMATION:
The Prescott Valley Police Department partnered with Yavapai Silent Witness to collect tips related to recent arson, aggravated criminal damage, graffiti, burglary and trespassing at the Legado Apartments and Bradshaw Mountain High School until the suspect(s) of these crimes has been brought to justice. The reward from Yavapai Silent Witness for this investigation is $40,000 and the phone number is 1-800-932-3232.

The Day I Died: Denise's Story

On this must-listen episode, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) Fire Chief Scott Freitag orchestrates a heartwarming reunion between two of his team members: Denise Krizo, Administrative Specialist, and Russ Smith, Engineer/Paramedic. Their meeting holds profound significance as Russ played a pivotal role in saving Denise's life during a critical moment in December 2023.

Without warning, Denise went into cardiac arrest while volunteering for the Firefighter Angel Foundation at the CAFMA Warehouse. Thanks to the quick actions of her colleagues, Denise's life was saved through early, effective CPR and the timely use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Her remarkable recovery stands as a testament to the power of preparedness and quick action in emergency situations.

As February marks American Heart Month, this poignant message serves as a reminder to the community to become familiar with the signs and symptoms of heart attack, to seek immediate medical attention if experiencing those symptoms, and to become CPR certified and able to confidently utilize AEDs when necessary.

Fully Involved House Fire Explained: Ocotillo Drive Fire

Accompanied by video from the fire scene, CAFMA Fire Chief Scott Freitag and Battalion Chief/Incident Commander Brad Davis break down the recent Ocotillo Drive fire, a fully involved house fire with multiple at-risk structures and vehicles.

CAFMA and Prescott Fire firefighters quickly extinguished this second alarm fire, limiting damage to nearby properties and without injury to community members or emergency personnel. Chief Davis details split-second decisions, equipment used, and why firefighters had to lay approximately 2,500 feet of large diameter hose.

Thank you to our public safety and community partners. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those affected by the Ocotillo Drive fire.

Parallel Tracks: Fixing The Ambulance Problem
