As soon as plans were in action our neighboring countries joined forces and soon it became evident that SGBVF is not just a South African problem. <br/>In 2019, alarmed by the increasing cases of femicide and Intimate Partner Violence in Kenya, soon activists and feminists rallied together in the #TotalShutdownKe march to protest and demand accountability. In Hot Water, Nadine Dirks reveals the unique issues of racism, sexism, classism, fatphobia, and slut-shaming that African women experience within the context of healthcare facilities, and how especially jarring it is when the stigma comes from medical staff whom one expects to have the patient’s care as their primary concern. All of this has enraged Dirks and catapulted her into becoming a sexual reproductive health and rights advocate.</p><p><em>Hot Water</em> tells the story of how people with chronic illness are treated daily, at school, university, and socially for being differently abled; how people are regarded as lazy, aggressive, disappointing, and lacking, among multiple other things for being unwell in comparison to their healthy counterparts.</p><p>One cannot look at seeking adequate healthcare as a young, black, underprivileged woman on the Cape Flats without experiencing racism in the most blatant of ways. Please take time to understand the narrative you are pushing and apply it to the actual production itself. So if you are addressing the problems and issues around ownership and control of women&apos;s bodies, understand that our voices and agency are attached to that. Yes, you need expert advice from activists, NGO&apos;s counsellors and therapists, but not for free. Gone are the days of using our voices for free under the umbrella that it is &apos;our CSI or we are doing our bit to help&apos;. Many people and organisations have dedicated their lives to this work and just as the companies get paid, this work deserves remuneration.<br/><br/>To the international &apos;United&apos; bodies, creating awareness on equal pay is essential and that should also be applied when hiring artists for your events and campaigns. The case never went to the courts, therefore no magistrate or judge said they were innocent. </p><p><br/></p><p>What we are sure of is that they are guilty of the following:</p><p><br/></p><ul><li>They have multiple accusations against them</li><li>Gaslighting</li><li>Lying- The Fresh lied about a so-called aunty who said the victim/survivor is a liar. Her family released a press statement proving that the information is a lie and have asked for the aunt&apos;s name. To do date, this aunty has not been revealed. </li><li>Doxing/doxxing- The act of publicly revealing private personal information about an individual or organization, usually on the Internet, typically with malicious intent. The small DJ posted a fake WhatsApp message but attached the victim/survivors contact number. </li><li>Instilling fear on top of the existing trauma. Since the cell number was shared with his followers, she has had to endure threatening calls and insults from rape apologists and his fans. </li><li>Creating lies to damage her character.</li><li>Press outlets, pushing the wrong narrative, to protect the alleged perpetrators. They did not verify that WhatsApp, if they did they would have discovered that it was photoshopped. </li></ul><p><br/></p><p>This usually happens when victims/survivors speak out against perpetrators who have power, influence and financial resources.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ending GBV is not just about a hashtag. If you cannot speak out publicly, support anonymously. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

The case never went to the courts, therefore no magistrate or judge said they were innocent. </p><p><br/></p><p>What we are sure of is that they are guilty of the following:</p><p><br/></p><ul><li>They have multiple accusations against them</li><li>Gaslighting</li><li>Lying- The Fresh lied about a so-called aunty who said the victim/survivor is a liar. Her family released a press statement proving that the information is a lie and have asked for the aunt&apos;s name. To do date, this aunty has not been revealed. </li><li>Doxing/doxxing- The act of publicly revealing private personal information about an individual or organization, usually on the Internet, typically with malicious intent. The small DJ posted a fake WhatsApp message but attached the victim/survivors contact number. </li><li>Instilling fear on top of the existing trauma. Since the cell number was shared with his followers, she has had to endure threatening calls and insults from rape apologists and his fans. </li><li>Creating lies to damage her character.</li><li>Press outlets, pushing the wrong narrative, to protect the alleged perpetrators. They did not verify that WhatsApp, if they did they would have discovered that it was photoshopped. </li></ul><p><br/></p><p>This usually happens when victims/survivors speak out against perpetrators who have power, influence and financial resources.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ending GBV is not just about a hashtag. If you cannot speak out publicly, support anonymously. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></content:encoded>
