In the Quarterfinals we broke down Mateusz Szczecinski vs. Deandre Corbe with Szczecinski taking the match with a second round shotgun ankle lock.

In Michael Liera Jr. vs. Carson Coles we talked about the IBJJF style game from Leira to take a decision distance.

In PJ Barch vs. Taylor Pearman, we talked about the passing attempts of Barch to take a decision win. 

In Tommy Langaker vs. Sebastian Patyk we talked about the round one and round two back and forth with Tommy escaping an early triangle thrown up by Sebastian, then countering it immediately with a Darce choke. Then in the second round, Tommy nearly securing the back, followed by Sebastian securing the back and threatening the finish. Pushing the mash into overtime where Tommy was able to take Mount in the dying seconds of the three minute overtime.

In the Semifinals we talked about the 35 second shotgun armbar finish from Mateusz Szczecinski vs. Michael Liera Jr.

In PJ Barch vs. Tommy Langaker we talked about the back take RNC finish from Barch in the first round. 

In the final we talked about the rubber match between Mateusz Szczecinski Vs PJ Barch. We broke down the dynamic of the match with Barch attempting to pass and Mateusz looking to enter into submissions for the full 15-minute regulation period. With Mateusz winning a decision and taking the welterweight title and the $30,000 prize. 

In our recap of the co-main event  for the vacant bantamweight title Sarah Galvão Vs. Zara Di Tofano. We talked about the heavy pressure from Galvão, and her double under to Darce finish late in the first round to take the title.

In -88kg we recap Nathan Haddad vs Ryan Aitken we talked about the counter, takedown sequences between both of them and the phenomenal takedown entry into guard pull off of the throw that Ryan was able to hit my to avoid the early penalty with the pull we also discussed the three second rule that led to the negative point for Ryan resulting in Nathan getting the win. 0-1 on penalties.

In -99kg we briefly discussed Elder Cruz vs Steffen Banta where Banta received a negative for an activity leading to Elder winning the match 0-1 on penalties.

In +99kg Nick Hartman vs Francis Pana we discussed the entry that Nick was able to hit into the straight ankle lock to take the division.

In the women's qualifier, we recap the -55kg final with Sheliah Lindsey vs Valerie Hamilton where Lindsey was able to secure the back and win 3-0 on points.

I'll be at one-sided even at 43 years old.  We discussed Andrew Tackett's Unanimous Decision when to retain the belt and who his possible opponents, possibly could be with such an unknown division with no standard roster.

We talk about the distinct lack of submissions in the finals from the trials and some of the interesting strategies on display from some of the athletes we discuss, the rule set for the event and the entire qualifying process for the trial system across the entire two year cycle of ADCC.

In Elder Cruz vs Nicky Rodriguez we talk about some of the history of their last match, and how it looked very functionally similar to this match and the weirdness of it ending in a majority draw. We also discuss the dissenting judges decision that is a through point for this entire card.

In Devhonte Johnson vs Lucas Norat we discussed the unanimous decision for Bones. 

In Joao Miyao vs Jussier Formiga we talked about the guard work from Joao and how his sweep game and activity led to him winning by unanimous decision.

In Andy Murasaki vs Jackson Nagai we discussed how this is potentially one of the more interesting Gi matches of the year and Andy strategy starting from the bottom working for the suite then resetting to pole guard again and resweep to take the win by points.

In Nolan Stuart vs Adam Wardzinski we discussed Adams return from retirement and his fantastic X-Guard sweep, followed by some midrange guard work that Nolan was able to capitalize on shooting in early Omaplata that Adam defended per minute before no one was able to keep the control and make the final adjustments to get the finish.

In Erich Munis vs Gustavo Batista we discussed the game from Erich and how it is so hard to deal with leading to a point win for Munis.

In the women's division, we check it off discussing Sarah Galvão vs Janaina Lebre we discussed the fantastic opening sequence with the flash cast off of the guard pole from Lebre that led to one advantage for Sarah after that, we discussed some of the guard work, but that the one advantage would be all that it took for Sarah to the crown. 

In Gabi Pessanha vs Tayane Porfirio we discussed with essentially the exact same match that they have had prior with Gabi being able to counter the double under pass from Tayane and throwing points, getting to the top, forcing the turtle and working for the choke during sections of the match.

In the news section of the show we discuss the drop out of Gable Steveson in his match vs Craig Jones via turf toe and his recently scheduled MMD debut at LFA scheduled 12 days after CJI2. We talk about possible links between the two and the possible impact of this drop out at the event.

Our breakdown kicks off with the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu squad coached by John Danaher. We look at their championship roster, which includes the phenomenal 19-year-old prodigy Dorian Olivarez, generational talent and 2024 ADCC World Champion Mica Galvão, the 4 time consecutive ADCC medalist and veteran Vagner Rocha. We also discuss two-time ADCC Champion Giancarlo Bodoni's move up to the -99 kg division and the team's anchor moving up to +99 Luke Griffith.

In our preview, we start with Team 10th Planet. We discuss the interesting team dynamic and how EBI pioneers like Geo Martinez and EBI 19 Champion Alan Sanchez, who are specialists in the submission-only format, will integrate with a newer CJI Quintet format. We talk about PJ Barch, the ADCC bronze medalist, whose formidable wrestling background and top pressure has proven to be an effective against the top level. PGF, EBI and CJJ champion Ryan Aitken with his blend of classic 10th Planet style with modern high-percentage techniques adding to the interesting and unpredictable team.

Next, we turn to Team Australasia, a squad meticulously assembled by respected coach and strategist Lachlan Giles, known for his analytical approach to the sport. This international lineup features the dynamic wild card IBJJF World Champion Fabricio Andrey, whose explosive and agile style makes him a threat from any position and any weight class. He is joined by Japanese competitor Kenta Iwamoto, who brings a relentless pace and a strong wrestling base. We discussed Lucas Kanard submission win at the first CJI over Victor Hugo. As well as the Giles Trials winners team Declan Moody and Belal Etiabari rounding out the team with Declan being an ADCC trials winner. 

We also analyze Team Americas, an intriguing DMV heavy lineup featuring athletes with diverse training backgrounds and philosophies, making them a true wild card in the bracket. This team features Deandre and Gavin Corbe, who utilize a modern, conceptual approach to training that contrasts sharply with the styles of their teammates. We looked at Elijah Dorsey, who had a strong, breakout performance at the ADCC East Coast Trials against Nicky Ryan coach of the B-team at the event. The team also includes wildcard Taylor Pearman, who achieved a 100% submission rate at the ADCC European trials, and former US National Wrestling Champion Pat Downey, whose transition into submission grappling adds a variable to the heavyweight picture.

Finally, we break down the balanced and formidable Team Europe. The team is spearheaded by 20-year-old Owen Jones, who had an impressive run to fourth place at the last ADCC by defeating several established veterans. He's supported by a lineup of seasoned talent, including three-time ADCC Trials winner and wildcard Paul Ardila, whose experience is a valuable asset, former IBJJF No-Gi World Champion Charles Negromonte, and Polish competitor Marcin Maciulewicz. This combination of youthful talent and veteran savvy makes them an opponent for any team in the bracket.

In our recap of UFC BJJ 2, we dive deep into the technical oddities of the main with Andrew Tackett making the first-ever successful title defense in UFC BJJ history. We break down Tackett's pace management to slow Canuto down and strategic passing to north-south and an odd Darce entry. We break down the sequence that allowed Tackett to lock up the D'Arce choke and get the sub with only 8 seconds left in the first round to retain his welterweight title.

We break down both day one and day two of the 17 hour event that featured 55 matches of some of the highest level submission grappling the sport has to offer. We talked about all of the big names at the event and all of their matches we discussed some of the more notable results and some of the most interesting techniques that we saw from the two days of grappling.

In the news section of the show, we discuss the debut of the much-anticipated UFC BJJ: Road to the Title, which is now airing daily for free on the UFC's YouTube channel. We analyze the format, a TUF-style reality show featuring two teams of lightweight (155 lbs) and welterweight (170 lbs) grapplers competing in the CJI-style pit and ruleset. We talked about the coaches, Mikey Musumeci and Rerisson Gabriel, and discussed their eventual championship fight at the finale. In the news section of the show we talk about why we decided to push the recap of the IBJJF 2025 world championships into next week. Giving us more time to recap the fight pass invitational.

In the recap section we discussed Ffion Davies defeating Adele Fornarino by split decision. We discussed some of the dynamics of the match across all three rounds and addressed some of our frustrations with the closed scoring used under the unified rules. We discussed potentially how difficult it would be for Adele to win in this rule at given her preference for playing from the bottom essentially in our eyes, making it a requirement to submit to win given her style. We talked about a potential rematch happening as the women's super fight at the 2026 ADCC world championships and how much we would love to see the rematch take place under those rules. 

In Ana Carolina Vieira win over Raquel Canuto by unanimous decision we discussed some of the takedowns and guillotine attempts that were able to win in Carolina the match. 

We broke down William Tackett submission over Achilles Rocha using an unorthodox takedown sequence into a rear naked choke finish.

In Mason Fowler vs Christiano Troisi we talked about the submission a near Iminari choke from the omaplata after a quick rubber guard transition from Fowler. We also briefly discussed that Mason may be the best rubber guard player in the sport right now.

In the recap of the 2025 IBJJF Brasileiro the third major grand slam event of the year we recapped all of the finishes for the adult black belts, and discussed some of the more interesting sequences in select finals matches of the tournament. We discussed the early takedown from. Kaynan the improved back defense from Rodriguez. In a recap of the company that we discussed Luke Griffith versus Victor Hugo, we talked about some of the dynamics in the wrestling and takedowns, and how this match shared a lot of dynamics with the main event matchup with a seemingly come-from-behind victory for Luke after getting Hugo back and controlling for a large section of the match.
