The individual project is an opportunity for a student to select and focus on an area of interest. These include Performance and Video Drama. The most popular option currently selected by students is Performance. Video Drama allows students to create and utilise the elements of drama through their script development through the medium of film.

The group performance allows students to work on building a strong ensemble and highlights the process and the exploration of problem solving, collaboration, decision making and time management.

Core Composition student choreographers will explain how they organised their movements and considered the elements of dance to communicate their concept/ intent
Core Performance dancers discuss a core body skill used in their core performance and the safe dance implications and or technical considerations when performing the dance sequence.

These dancers are performing at either the live  Sydney Catholic Schools 2024 HSC CAPA Showcase or the Digital Showcase streaming to schools in 2025.

In this season, we explore the impact of an Arts Education on the 2024 candidates and how following their passion; building their skillset and finding focus and discipline in the process, led to their HSC success.

Luke has been recently announced as a Soldier-On Ambassador as well as having  a number of his songs and videos being incorporated into Tertiary , University (Aboriginal Studies) and Secondary (HSC) English and History Curriculums

Brad is a Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Improvisation Artist and Teacher. He brings a mix bag of experiences to his teaching and likes to blend his experiences together so that students can learn a variety of skills from his classes.

In 2018 Brad was cast in the Musical 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' on board Norwegian Cruise lines and has returned to this show many times since his first casting.

Brad has a passion for teaching and dance education. He teaches open classes at Sydney Dance Company and also works as a Teaching Artist where he travels alongside the company and delivers creative contemporary dance workshops to primary and high school students all over Australia.

She has been involved in many CASPA Archdiocesan Festivals on the logistics team. Musicals such as Entertaining Angels and Tell Me A Story to name a few. She has also coordinated many musicals written and performed within schools as well as musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the Lion King.

Leonie Burfield is principal at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland. Leonie has been a pioneer of the school musical, self devised productions at school, as well as known musicals such as Seussical, Aladdin and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat. Leonie’s school communities have been involved in many CaSPA programs including Let’s Dance and Dance Works Schools Edition to name a few as well as part of the Logistic team for the Sydney Catholic Schools Archdiocesan Festivals

Anne-Marie has also been involved in other important musical theatre roles working backstage, front of house, proofreading, prompting, lighting cues and all tasks in theatrical performances as part of a community theatre team.

While living in Gibraltar Anne-Marie was awarded ‘Best Actress in a drama or musical’ in the British Forces Posted Overseas 1992 theatre awards.

As a performing arts teacher in Sydney Catholic Schools, Anne-Marie has loved being involved in directing and producing many concerts, plays, choir performances and musicals including major Archdiocesan productions.

Starting as a chorister he commenced his dance training at the VCA and the Australian Ballet School.  Over the years he has worked on many and varied musicals, with his skills seeing him staging over forty productions with Opera Australia, his most recent being ‘Carmen’ touring regional Australia. 

He has also directed opera productions in LA, Montréal, Beijing, Hanoi, and will soon be directing a production of Madame Butterfly, in Taiwan.

Matt’s work is fresh and engaging, introducing traditional opera audiences to the avant garde world of puppetry masks and dialogue, whilst being influenced by choreographers he has had the pleasure of working with - including Graeme Murphy and Meryl Tankard to name a few.

He is the Director of SCS Archdiocesan 2022 production “School of Rock.”

As the founder and Artistic Director of Palm Studios Performing Arts College, Nate developed a one-person operation into a partnered Registered Training Organisation with over 650 enrolments including High School, Cert IV, Diploma, and private students. Some of his students include Joe Kalou, Sammi Constantine, Tori Forsyth, Mickey Halcrow & Lulu Quirk.

Nate has worked on over 40 Musicals as either director or producer including Parade, Spring Awakening, Little Shop Of Horrors, Blood Brothers & Fame along with creating a co-operative theatre company Barn Door. 

Nate has strong industry networks as a performer. As one of Australia’s leading crossover artists, Nate has performed in professional operas, musicals, and corporate shows, appearing on the X Factor and television commercials, as well as in big ticket theatre productions such as Dead Man Walking (Capitol Theatre) and Disney’s The Lion King (promo tour); and leading seven study tours to New York.

Sally has worked as Assistant Director of La Boheme, and choreographed Packemin’s Legally Blonde, was Assistant Director on Opera Australia’s production of  Two Weddings One Bride, and Assistant Choreographer and Dance Captain on Carmen on Sydney Harbour.  

Her other credits include: Untapped! with Raw Dance, Fame the Musical, Mack and Mabel, Carmen, OzPanto’s Snow White and Aladdin, Happy Feet 2 and assistant to Creative Directors Squared Division on The X Factor.

Sally has danced for artists including; Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newtown-John, Delta Goodrem, Meghan Trainor, Redfoo and Samantha Jade to name a few.

She was also nominated for a Green Room Award for her work as Musical Director on Gutenberg the Musical and has been Musical Director for the last 4 years on Light the Night charity concert raising money for leukemia research and for the Luminale Festival at the Sydney Opera House. 

In 2008, Bev was the official pianist at the World Youth Day Papal Welcome which was televised worldwide.Bev has accompanied international artists such as Joan Rivers and Grammy award winners Liz Callaway, Jose Carreras, and continues to play for award winning artists such as Tina Arena and Anthony Warlow.

Hayley is highly skilled in teaching performance, in particular comedy, Improvisation, Stanislavski, Shakespeare and HSC Drama.

Hayley has recently returned from LA after training with The Groundlings School and also promoting her original series, "Hei and Lo" which took out LA WEBFEST Outstanding Achievement Award for "Best Lead Actress in a Drama" and was nominated for "Best Script Writing" as well as her co-star.

You can see her as “Grace” in the thriller feature filmGuilt and she has directed the playJasper Jones along with many other school based productions as the Head of Performance at Marcellin College, Randwick. Her next major production is Parenthood - in the role of “Mother”, as she gets ready to have her baby!

Georgia has trained as an actor through various programs at NIDA from a very young age. She has extensive training in the methods of Stanislavski, Laban, Viewpoints and Strasburg. Georgia has acquired roles in film and television and is trained in vocals and dance. 

She has worked with Junior and Senior Drama ensembles and has held numerous roles in the CaSPA programs. She has staged student productions on a small and large scale and has worked on numerous ‘Theatre in Education’ productions as a director and scriptwriter. 

This year Georgia was elected to serve on the Drama NSW committee and is privileged to be part of the peak state body that represents and advocates on behalf of all Drama teachers in NSW.

She’s been involved in music as a singer, actor, piano player her whole life. For a while she worked as a jazz singer and has continued to perform when the opportunity presented itself. 

 Gabby has been a teacher for over 30 years, sometime generalist but mostly a primary music specialist.

Gabby has dedicated the last 10 years in particular to professional development and improved practice in music education She has also developed much enthusiasm and love for choral teaching and conducting. 

She has very recently started her own Performing Arts company called Young Sydney Sings which has been very exciting.

She is extremely passionate about the Performing Arts with Dance being her area of expertise, she’s  always looking for ways to incorporate it into the life of the school. 

Nicole has  been involved in organising flash mobs, inspirational online dance videos during Covid, whole school musicals, school dance ensembles, CASPA regional squads and liturgical movement workshops with John Burland.

Her current project is an upcoming theatrical performance, involving the whole school in ‘Aladdin’ the musical.

During her studies she played the role of Smitty in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She also starred in Neil Gooding and Nick Christo’s Pop Stars: The 90’s Musical, playing the role of Charlie. 

Since graduating Bridget has performed as a member of the ensemble in the workshop presentation of Between Worlds, directed by Jason Langley and Tyran Parke. 

Bridget was also apart of Squabbalogics  Mystery Musical: Hello Dolly playing the role of the Judge. 

During 2016 she performed in Packemin Productions Wicked, playing the part of Pfannee and performed in the ensemble. 

Recently Bridget again performed with Packemin Production’s in the ensemble playing the role of Blind Mice in Shrek the Musical, and recently playing the role of Vivienne in Legally Blonde.

Currently Bridget is a Secondary Drama Teacher at Sydney Catholic School, Good Samaritan College, Hinchinbrook

In 2005 he featured in a documentary “ballroom babies” that aired on Australian television 

2010 saw Sam travel to LA with Glee Club Australia and train alongside industry professionals. He is a graduate of Patrician Brothers Fairfield and reconnected with CaSPA as a guest dance ensemble tutor.

Sam completed a Bachelor of Dance in 2014 majoring in Latin, Jazz and Hip Hop and then continuing on to study a Graduate Diploma of Education with Dance and Drama as his teaching subjects, completed 2015. Soon after,  he travelled to London to teach Dance in schools and upon returning to Sydney Sam joined Arthur Murray Dance Studio teaching Ballroom, Latin American and Wedding Dance lessons to adults. Currently Sam is still teaching as a private dance tutor for wedding couples.

Will began dancing at the age of 5 at a local dance studio. His journey with Sydney Catholic Schools Performing Arts | CaSPA started 4 years ago when Will entered secondary education. He recently auditioned for the VIVA Dance program at Southern Cross Catholic College which will allow him the opportunity to follow his passion and love of dance by studying the 2 unit dance course off campus.

Eva has taught Music and Drama in multiple schools in Sydney over her career, and has led dynamic CaPA faculties to grow and develop young performers to become valuable contributors to the professional performing arts industry.

In her own right, Eva is a versatile performer, whose credits include jazz, musical theatre, opera, cabaret, television and radio. Eva is the Executive Producer and Lead Alto for Fusion Vocal Group, who have performed both nationally and internationally for over thirteen years.

During this time, he has written and recorded over 250 songs and published 15 music collections which are used extensively in school/parish communities across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. In 2008, two of his liturgical compositions, Come O Holy Spirit and Lord By Your Cross were included in the official World Youth Day liturgies in Sydney, Australia.

John is a sought-after keynote speaker, workshop leader and published author in the area of music and catechesis. For the past twenty years John has been working in Catholic schools throughout the Sydney Archdiocese as a Classroom Teacher, Religious Education Coordinator, and Assistant Principal.

John is currently the Education Officer: Liturgy/ Music for Sydney Catholic Schools, Australia, where he facilitates workshops, Family Faith Celebrations and reflection days for children, teachers, families, and parish communities. He is also a keynote speaker, composer, and the National Music Consultant for Bayard Inc, in North America.

He completed a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts then went on to pursue his interests in physical archetypes and masked performance studying Commedia dell’ Arte in Reggio Emilia Italy, under Commedia’s Guru Antonio Fava. Time spent working with Chiara Guidi from Societas Raffaello Sanzio in her errant method, and delving into the satirical world of Buffon with Giovanni Fusetti have directed Nick’s creative explorations to push both his body, writing & examination of culture to the limits.

A tour of Commedia performance throughout Europe provided experiences where Nick developed a deep passion for visual storytelling and creating narratives that transcend verbal language.  This interest was explored further through the medium of puppetry working with Matriark Theatre, Gary Friedman, Erth and Dead Puppet Society. 

Nick has recently been enjoying working with Erth, on VIVID,  Milk Crate Theatre and writing scripts for theatre & kids television. 

Nick is also a founding member of I Naufraghi Teatro I and Matriark Theatre, and Secondary English and Drama teacher!

Hilton's professional career began early after he appeared in tele-movies and musicals such as Show Boat and Oliver.

Best known for his appearance on the premiere series of So You Think You Can Dance in the Top 20. Other television credits include Farscape, Australia's Next Top Model finale, MTV Video Music Awards, and The Helpmann Awards.

Hilton has worked with many of Australia's leading Choreographers with stage credits including Le Grand Cirque and the Australian tour of West Side Story in 2010. As a Dancer, he has appeared in various film clips, TV and live performances. Artist credits include Flight Facilities, Jessica Mauboy, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Timomatic, Skryptcha, Lily Allen, Wynter Gordon, Fergie, Adam Lambert, Australia got talent, MTV awards and X factor.

Hilton is currently travelling the world with the theatrical modern circus show "LIMBO", “LIMBO UNHINGED”, “LIFE THE SHOW”.

Hilton is also a breakthrough, passionate choreographer/director and has produced his own innovative stage shows called "Virada".

His career in the Arts began at the theme park Australia’s Wonderland, first as a character suit performer and then puppeteer. 

In 1998, Graeme received the Mike Walsh Fellowship, which allowed him to study puppetry in the USA. On return, he was part of the puppetry team working on Farscape, a science fiction television series produced by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Graeme has puppeteered with the touring arena show Walking with Dinosaurs. He has directed the puppet portions of The Wiggles Movie and was puppetry director for Legoland in Malaysia.

His design appears for the original children’s entertainment show Hi5, as well as Jay’s Jungle and New McDonald’s Farm. Other designs include work for Grayboy Entertainment’s shows on cruise ships.

As a Company Manager, Graeme worked on several tours including Ghost, the Musical and KING KONG. 

As a Producer he has been engaged for cultural events Melbourne’s, White Night and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, and most recently he was the Producer for Opera Australia’s relaunching of Bran Nue Dae to the stage at Parramatta Riverside
