In this episode I interview some of the leaders, students, and sponsors of the UTC Heathrow Digital Futures Programme. An education programme developed to help manage the skills challenge in the data centre sector.

Firstly I speak with the programme leaders. They share why the programme is so important, what the programme offers to the students, and why it is so important that programmes like this are part of the education system.

I then speak with some of the students who share their experiencing of being part of the programme. They share how the learning differs from standard education, why they decided to follow this route, and what they hope to achieve in the future.

Finally I speak with two of the sponsors of the programme. They share their experiences of being a partner and why it is so important to their organisations to give back to the sector.

The passion of all involved is contagious, and this programme is a great example of how collaboration can make a huge difference to young peoples lives.

In this episode I am joined by Greg Hayden, CEO of Ethos Engineering based in Dublin, Ireland. Greg shares a great insight on two initiatives recently implemented by Ethos Engineering and also offers his views on a number of key topics in the data centre sector. 

Greg started his career as a trainee engineer and he has worked his way up to a CEO of a highly successful European design consultancy. We discuss how Greg got to where he is today and also what advice he would give to anyone looking to make a similar career journey.

We then discuss 'Engineering Wow' and 'Going for Growth', two great initiatives recently launched by Ethos Engineering. Greg outlines what 'engineering wow' means to Ethos and why innovation is such an important element of the initiative. 

'Going for Growth' has the ambitious target of doubling revenue and creating 150 jobs by 2025. We discuss how Ethos will achieve these targets and the importance of retention, attraction and learning & development.

Greg paints a great picture of Ethos Engineering and it is certainly a company that puts its employees at its core. It feels like the next stage of their journey is only just beginning..

Martin shares how he started his career in the data centre sector and how he worked his way to the COO of one of the worlds largest data centre real estate organisations. Martin then offers his views on how to develop your career to a senior leadership position.

We then discuss why Martin recently made the decision to start AMS Helix and what he believes they can offer the sector. We discuss how the sector needs further innovation to ensure it can sustain the long term growth.

Finally we touch on talent in the sector and how we all need to work harder to attract the data centre workforce of tomorrow!
