All bang-average things must come to an end. With Lockdown ending, so must Lockdown Film Club.

For this, our last ever episode, we got together around a table weighed down with delicious food at Maray, one of Liverpool's finest restaurants, to review The Mauritanian (Prime). The film's heavy subject matter (Guantanamo Bay, detention without charge, torture etc etc) didn't stop us from having a splendid time.

This week we review the quintessential Christmas film 'It's A Wonderful Life'. Reviews were universally high, although Dave doubted its credentials as an Xmas movie. This episode was recorded in a restaurant in Liverpool, so the sound quality isn't great, unfortunately. The banter is first class though.

In this week's episode we review Mosul, a gritty Netflix original depicting the war on terror.

A Bronx Tale (1993)

First Man (2018)

In this week's pod we review First Man (Netflix), the Neil Armstrong biopic starring Ryan Gosling. Listen to find out what we made of it. Highlights:

- Dan compares astronauts to Uber drivers

- Conspiracy theorist Matt keeps bringing the conversation back to whether the moon landing really took place

- Ryan Gosling impersonator and super fan Paul is pained to admit that he disliked the film. Don't worry, Paul, I don't think Ryan is listening.

- We discuss Ryan Gosling's back catalogue and recommend some hidden gems.

- Dave seems to think that Faye, his wife, liked the film because of all the 'science and machines'. And not because of Ryan Gosling. Good one, Dave.

- We take a trip down memory lane with a quiz based upon the first 10 films we reviewed in Lockdown Film Club.

Next week's film is The Trial of the Chicago 7 (Netflix).

The Gentlemen (2019)

In this week's pod we review Guy Richie's latest offering The Gentlemen. On the whole, we liked it. But Guy might like to skip the middle section... Highlights include:

- Paul questions (Geordie) Charlie Hunnam's Geordie accent.

- Amit submits an essay-like written review which makes very little sense.

- Henry pans the film but curiously professes to love Lock Stock and Snatch. Hmmmm.

- Shannon likens to fight porn scene to The Powerpuff Girls, whoever they are.

- Chris and Joe argue over the merits of the Kingsman films.

- Dave rants about the dangers of legalising cannabis.

- The lads recommend some top Netflix viewing, including: Challenger: The Final Flight (Henry), The Social Dilemma (Chris), Criminal - United Kingdom (Paul), Fargo (Shannon) and Knock Down The House (Chris).

- Joe (acting experience: walk-on part in Year 6 school play) offers his services to Guy Richie. He'll call you, Joe.

- Chris smashes the Lock Stock film quiz. Henry, despite being on the Wikipedia page, scores nil points.

Next week's film is First Man (Netfilx). Ryan Gosling is in it so your missus will want to watch it too.

Knives Out (2019)

We liked the Agatha Christie (Dave)/ Scooby Doo (Kieran)-esque whodunnit Knives Out. It scored a very respectable 7.3 making it our third favourite film to date. Lots of banter in this episode. Next week's film is Guy Richie's The Gentlemen (Prime). Cheers!

True History Of The Kelly Gang (2020)

We absolutely panned this total dud, which isn't even a true story. FFS! In addition: Harry correctly pronounced 'biopic'; Dave revealed his diversity credentials; and Shannon explained what orifice the critics used to praise this film. The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)

We enjoyed panning this awful film over beers. In addition:

- Harry dissed Casio. Bye bye Casio sponsorship. But really, who wears a Casio?!

- Shannon pretended he isn't a grumpy old man.

- Joe fell asleep. During the film, not the pod.

- Dave likened Joseph Gordon Levitt to a potato.

- Shannon didn't get to do the quiz.

- Henry misunderstood anatomy.

- Joe loved Brad Pitt.

In this week's film we review the Cohen Brothers' Oscar winner No Country For Old Men. It scored very highly and might even have been our favourite film but for Zak's rating. Nice one, Zak.

Highlights:

- Shannon makes an exception by watching a film he's already seen and enjoys it

- Henry reveals his sole criteria for a film: Does it 'look nice'?

- Amit discovers that cinemas have re-opened (we're all film buffs on this pod, honest)

- Matt and Shannon go head to head in the quiz after everyone else f*cks off

- Amit reveals his obsession with Tom Cruise (who, like Amit, just happens to be 5'2" in height)
