Brandon Novak is a professional skateboarder, author and television personality who became known through his appearances in the CKY videos, Viva La Bam and the Jackass franchise.

A childhood friend of Bam Margera, Novak was once considered a skateboarding prodigy and was sponsored at a young age before addiction derailed his career. Despite years of struggles with heroin addiction, homelessness and repeated attempts at recovery, he ultimately rebuilt his life, becoming a bestselling author, recovery advocate and public speaker. He is regarded as one of the most remarkable redemption stories to emerge from the CKY and Jackass era, using his experiences to help others overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

Bam Margera is a professional skateboarder and cultural icon whose work helped bridge the worlds of skateboarding, independent filmmaking and mainstream entertainment.

Emerging from West Chester during the 1990s, Margera first gained recognition as a pro skateboarder riding for companies including Fairman's Skate Shop, Toy Machine Skateboards, Speed Metal Bearings, Electric Sunglasses and Adio Footwear before becoming one of the most recognizable professional riders for Element Skateboards, a relationship that would define much of his skateboarding career.

His ability to transform skateboarding culture into mainstream entertainment was unmatched for his time. As the driving force behind the CKY video series, he helped pioneer a new style of independent filmmaking that blended skateboarding, pranks, stunts and documentary storytelling, laying the foundation for what would become Jackass. Through projects including Jackass, Viva La Bam and Bam's Unholy Union, he became one of the defining figures of the early 2000s, introducing millions of people to skateboarding and the lifestyle that surrounded it.

KR / Craig Costello is an artist, retired graffiti writer and founder of KRINK. Having spent time painting graffiti in a pivotal era of both New York and San Francisco, KR upheld the long standing tradition of shoplifting materials to make your own markers and ink. His approach to graffiti played with scale; very large/legible 'KR's' done with paint-rollers in high-profile areas, along with street-level tags done with his home-made ink and markers. The spirit of innovation within KRINK has led to tools like the sprayer, dauber, fire-extinguisher, specialized spray paint, as well as classics including KRINK's chrome ink and the k-60 mop. His approach to graffiti and tool making has globally influenced the way graffiti is done today.

Shyne is a rapper, politician, and former member of Bad Boy Records who emerged from Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood during the late 1990s. Born in Belize City before relocating to New York as a child, Shyne was discovered freestyling in a barbershop and quickly became one of the most prominent new artists associated with Sean Combs and the Bad Boy Records era.

Shyne became internationally known following the 1999 Club New York shooting incident involving Sean Combs and Jennifer Lopez, which resulted in multiple injuries and ultimately led to his conviction on assault and weapons charges in 2001. Sentenced to ten years in prison, Shyne underwent a major personal transformation while incarcerated. 

Following his release from prison in 2009, Shyne was deported to Belize, where he later immersed himself in religious study in Jerusalem before returning to Belizean public life. In 2013, he was appointed Belize Music and Goodwill Ambassador to support the country’s music industry. Shyne later transitioned into politics, winning election to the Belize House of Representatives in 2020 as a member of the center-right United Democratic Party. He subsequently served as Leader of the Opposition and leader of the United Democratic Party, marking one of the most dramatic transformations in contemporary hip-hop history.

MexikoDro is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia who played a key role in the development of plugg music; an offshoot of trap that took hold in the mid-2010s influencing a generation of emerging artists.

His early life was marked by personal hardship which nearly pulled him away from music. A turning point in 2019 pushed him to rethink his path. Since then, he’s focused on recording and producing.

From making beats at a young age using FL Studio and beat boxing around the house, his work took part in Playboi Carti's early rise, with collaborations like “Broke Boi” and “Plug,” and extended to artists such as Drake and Kodak Black. He is widely revered as a key figure in the evolution of Atlanta’s contemporary music.

Beagle is an iconic skate filmer whose work helped define an era of street skateboarding through videos that documented the personalities and lifestyle in unprecedented ways. 

Closely associated with Baker Skateboards and Shake Junt, Beagle became one of the central figures behind some of the most influential skate videos of the 21st century.

Videos like Baker 3 and Chicken Bone Nowison documented the reality of chaos and spontaneity involved with street skating. With an all-star crew including Ellington, Spanky, Herman, Dixon, Greco and Reynolds; Beagle was able to capture the crews hijinx in a way that permanently changed the way people viewed skateboarding.

Drea De Matteo, who portrayed Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, delivered one of the series’ most quietly devastating performances. Introduced as the girlfriend of Christopher Moltisanti, played by Michael Imperioli, Adriana gradually emerged as one of the show’s emotional centers. Her openness and moral uncertainty stood in uneasy relief against the violence and code bound masculinity that defined the world around her. 

De Matteo approached the role with a rare warmth and precision, allowing Adriana’s fear, loyalty, and hope to surface without sentimentality. As her arc darkened, the character became a lens through which the series examined devotion and betrayal, revealing the personal cost exacted by life inside organized crime. Adriana’s fate remains among the show’s most tragic turns, not because it was shocking, but because it felt inevitable. The following conversation took place over two decades after the series’ release.

Stevie Williams is one of the most influential street skateboarders of his generation. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he came up skating at the legendary LOVE Park, officially known as John F. Kennedy Plaza. There, he helped establish Philadelphia as a global destination for street skating, with LOVE Park’s signature granite ledges, open plaza, and the fountain gap becoming a proving ground for some of the most progressive East Coast skating of the 1990s.  

At 14, Williams left Philly for San Francisco, one of skateboarding’s epicenters at the time, where he immersed himself in the city and filmed at iconic spots such as EMB (Justin Herman Plaza) and Pier 7, appearing in videos for Chocolate, TransWorld, FTC videos, and more.

In 2002, he founded Dirty Ghetto Kids (DGK), turning a phrase tied to his Philadelphia upbringing into a brand. Over the years, DGK has released several full-length projects and grown into one of skateboarding’s most recognizable brands.

Mike Carroll is an influential skateboarder and a pioneer of modern day street skating. Coming up in the San Francisco scene of the late 80s / early 90s, he became a regular at Embarcadero Plaza during the spots hey-day. His approach to skateboarding and the brands he built had an immense impact on an entire generation's view of what skateboarding is. Thrasher Magazine recognized Carroll as the 1994 Skater Of The Year. 

Carroll co-founded the legendary Girl Skateboards alongside Rick Howard, Megan Baltimore, and Spike Jonze in 1993. Girl would quickly become a leading name in the industry, releasing several renowned videos, including Goldfish, Mouse, Yeah Right, and Pretty Sweet. These videos raised the bar, introducing a new level of creativity and artistic direction in skateboarding videos.

In 1999 Carroll and Rick Howard launched Lakai Footwear. Lakai was part of a generation of skater-owned companies that shaped the industry before the entrance of corporate brands. Lakai released Fully Flared in 2007, one of the most influential skateboarding videos of all time that featured an all-star roster from Eric Koston, Guy Mariano, Alex Olson and more. Although Lakai would eventually change hands, its legacy will always be tied to the vision of Caroll and Howard.

Today Carroll continues his leadership at Girl and Crailtap, remaining closely involved in the brands direction and commitment.

Styles P is a New York City Rapper from Yonkers who rose to prominence as a founding member of The LOX, alongside Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. The group released their debut album ‘Money, Power, & Respect’ and went on to become iconic figures in the 90s New York City hip-hop scene during an era that set the standard for what hip-hop could be and raised the bar globally. 

Sparked by a period of incarceration, Styles P stood out in his generation being one of the early advocates for mental health and wellness. His music focuses on introspection and knowledge of self as well as struggle and pain, reflecting the duality of his life. 

Alongside Jadakiss, he opened a juice bar named  ‘Juices for Life’ in 2011, now spanning six locations throughout New York City. 

Shaun Crawford is a graffiti writer & artist from East Harlem, New York. In the early 2000s, Crawford would become known for his work experimenting with and creating handmade inks from raw materials under the name Do*Em*Dirty. 

Through his art, he began designing clothing, which led to collaborations with brands including Nike, Arc'teryx, BAPE, Supreme, Givenchy, Engineered Garments, and Barbour.

Crawford's art has been showcased in many galleries across the globe.  His recent work is on display at Milliony Arlekina Art gallery in Milan until February 2nd. 

MARTY is a graffiti writer from Brooklyn whose name in New York became synonymous with SMART Crew, a collective of graffiti writers, artists & friends whose approach to getting up served as a beacon of ingenuity in the city’s graffiti landscape. Alongside his peers, MARTY’s approach, spot selection and letters had him stand out in an era of graffiti that was rife with talent. 

He speaks on his time spent heavily involved with writing graffiti, avoiding taxes, Riker’s Island, SMART Crew & more.

Blondey McCoy is a British skateboarder and designer who grew up skating at London’s South Bank, a space that played a significant role in shaping his style and way of approaching work.

His work later expanded through a long-running partnership with Adidas, for which he designed a signature sneaker line known for its experimental details and clean, unmistakable aesthetic.

He went on to establish THAMES MMXX., developing it from a personal art project into a full clothing and board company. While the brand carries hints of the city that raised him, its identity ultimately reflects Blondey’s own vision.

Shoreline Mafia is a Los Angeles rap group that emerged in the mid-2010s and quickly became one of the defining sounds of modern West Coast street rap. The crew began when OhGeesy and Fenix Flexin met through writing graffiti and East Hollywood’s skate-and-street culture.

Their music touches on the realities of hustling, fast money, navigating dangerous environments, wealth, brotherhood and Los Angeles culture.

After a breakup in 2020, founding members OhGeesy and Fenix Flexin reunited in 2023, bringing the Shoreline Mafia name back to life as a duo and garnering mass attention with their return.

Danny Diablo, also known as Lord Ezec, is an iconic figure within New York's hardcore and graffiti scenes. Having formed influential bands such as Crown of Thornz during a pivotal era of New York Hardcore, Ezec naturally blended his graffiti background into the music he made; famously using a Cap One quote to introduce the album "Train Yard Blues", an album whose street-graffiti influence is strongly present throughout the record. 

His music would touch on the multi-faceted style of his life: speaking on emotions, inner-city living and life's problems. 

Diablo later expanded into hip-hop and crossover styles. Throughout the years, he has remained an active performer and cultural figure, bridging multiple scenes organically. 

EASY is a graffiti writer who began writing around 1982. Alongside his partners JOZ (RIP) and JOSH5, EASY's street-graffiti campaign across all five boroughs of New York set the blueprint for the term "all city". Using high-visibility yet ground-level spot placement with a straightforward approach to large legible tags, EASY's aggressive repetition helped define an era when writers transitioned from the subways to the streets. 

His legacy lives on through his influence on younger writers and his role in New York’s graffiti history.

Alain Levitt is a Los Angeles–born photographer who moved to New York in 2000 and began documenting the downtown life around him with a small point-and-shoot camera. 

He became known for capturing the skate, graffiti, nightlife, and art scenes of early-2000s Manhattan in candid, flash-lit images. 

His photo book NYC 2000–2005, released with @fuckingawesome, gathers hundreds of these moments, preserving a disappearing era of creative freedom in the city. Levitt’s work has become a vital visual record of a formative moment in New York’s cultural history.

Patrick O’Dell is a photographer, filmmaker and skateboarder whose work has had a lasting influence on skate culture. He began skating at an early age and soon merged that passion with photography, developing a documentary-style approach that captured the personalities, places, and people that defined the skateboarding of his era.

In 2004, O’Dell started Epicly Later’d, a skateboarding blog that turned into an interview-based documentary series. Through Epicly Later’d, he profiled the lives and careers of skateboarding's biggest icons.

O’Dell's retrospective book, also titled Epicly Later’d, marked two decades of documenting downtown New York’s skate and art scenes.

Quiñones’s work helped redefine graffiti as a legitimate art form rather than mere vandalism. By the late 1970s, he transitioned from painting subways to exhibiting in galleries, becoming one of the first graffiti artists to bridge the gap between the streets and the fine art world.

Lee Quiñones has appeared in seminal films chronicling New York’s graffiti and hip-hop culture, including the legendary Wild Style, where he played a leading role. His influence has extended across generations, inspiring artists in graffiti, street art, and contemporary painting alike.

Atiba Jefferson is a photographer widely regarded as one of the most influential visual chroniclers of skateboarding culture of all time. Born in Colorado Springs, Jefferson developed an early passion for both skateboarding and photography that would merge into a prolific career documenting the evolution of skating from a subcultural movement into a global phenomenon. After moving to Southern California in the 1990s he quickly established himself as a leading figure behind the lens, becoming a staff photographer for Transworld Skateboarding and later a founding contributor to The Skateboard Mag. His work has appeared in nearly every major skate publication worldwide and today he works closely with Thrasher Magazine. 

Outside of skateboarding, Jefferson has built an expansive career across music, fashion, and commercial photography; having shot portraits of cultural icons such as LeBron James, Mos Def, and Tony Hawk. 

He has recently dropped the “United Through Skatebording” Collection with Vans. The collection includes a Skate Half Cab® with WaffleCup™ Outsole & a Skate Old Skool™ 36+ featuring custom imagery of skate legend John Cardiel alongside artwork by Haze. The collection celebrates Atiba’s journey throughout an extensive career, and the skate culture that deeply influenced his work. 

Brian Wenning is an iconic skateboarder who has recently been released from prison after serving five years for a weapons charge under the Graves Act, which carried a mandatory minimum of 42 months before parole eligibility. Released from Bayside State Prison in May 2025, Wenning has since expressed his determination to move forward and rebuild his life. While in prison, he became sober after many years of using various substances.

Rising to prominence through projects like Photosynthesis, The DC Video, and Plan B: Live After Death, Wenning built a reputation as one of the most stylish and technically skilled skaters of his generation, riding for brands such as Habitat, DC Shoes, and Plan B during a golden age of plaza-skating. 

No longer under parole, he has returned to skateboarding, sharing clips of himself back on a board and speaking openly about taking things “one day at a time.” For both his fans and the wider skateboarding community, Wenning’s release marks not just the return of a legend within skateboarding, but also the beginning of a new chapter in his turbulent yet iconic career.

Harry Jumonji is a Brazilian-born skateboarder regarded as one of the defining icons of New York City’s skateboarding history. 

After moving from Brazil to New York as a child, Jumonji was introduced to the New York skate scene through Andy Kessler, one of New York’s most influential skaters and the first person he met when arriving in the city. Deeply shaped by Kessler’s mentorship, Jumonji grew into a legend in the downtown street skateboarding scene of the 1980s. His skating was known for power & aggression, and his larger-than-life personality made him a standout character amongst all who came in contact with him. 

Throughout his time in New York, Jumonji became entangled with hard drugs and spent multiple stretches incarcerated, most notably after selling drugs to an undercover officer. These struggles interrupted his career, changed his life, his outlook and symbolize both the allure and dangers of New York street life. Over the years, he has been candid about these experiences in documentaries and interviews, offering a stark account of survival in and around skateboarding’s fringes.

In later life, Jumonji turned away from these destructive patterns, achieving sobriety from the hard drugs and choosing a more stable path. He eventually relocated back to Brazil, where he continues to live today. He is remembered not only for his skating but for embodying the unfiltered character of New York skateboarding during its formative years. Jumonji’s story ensures his place as one of the most legendary figures in New York skateboarding history.

Brian Anderson is an iconic professional skateboarder celebrated for his lasting influence on street skating. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with Toy Machine, gaining early notoriety around the era of Welcome to Hell, turned pro in 1998, and was named Thrasher’s Skater of the Year in 1999 after joining Girl Skateboards. That same year he won the World Cup of Skateboarding in Germany. 

Beyond video parts and contest results, Anderson has left a mark as a designer and brand builder. He launched his own board brand, 3D Skateboards, in 2013, released his Nike SB signature “Project BA” shoe, and later joined Anti-Hero Skateboards after winding down 3D. His current sponsor roster includes Anti-Hero, Nike SB, Spitfire, Ace, Bones Swiss, and Jessup. 

In 2016, Anderson publicly came out as gay in a widely viewed Vice Sports documentary—an important moment for LGBTQ visibility in skateboarding—and subsequently explored personal themes through art and zines such as Cave Homo.

Henry Chalfant is an American photographer, videographer, and sculptor best known for his pioneering work chronicling New York City’s graffiti and hip-hop culture.

Beginning in 1977, Chalfant started photographing graffiti on the subway cars of New York City, capturing hundreds of ephemeral artworks by legendary writers such as Lee, Dondi, Skeme, Blade, Cap and Seen. His technique, shooting from one position while the train moved, allowed him to create single, highly detailed images constructed from multiple exposures, setting a standard for graffiti documentation worldwide. Over his career, he amassed an archive of more than 1,500 photographs that preserve a visual record of a fleeting urban art movement.  

Chalfant co-authored Subway Art with Martha Cooper, a seminal book often referred to as the “Bible” of graffiti, and later co-authored Spraycan Art, which documented the global spread of the phenomenon.

In 1983, Chalfant co-produced Style Wars with director Tony Silver, a groundbreaking PBS documentary that explored the battle over public space between the city’s authorities and its graffiti writers, while also highlighting the parallel rise of breakdancing, MCing, and DJing. Style Wars became the first major film to capture hip-hop culture in its infancy, giving a global audience a look at the voices, rivalries, and creativity of New York youth. It went on to win the Grand Prize for Documentaries at the Sundance Film Festival, cementing Chalfant’s role as both participant and historian in the culture’s early years.

Today, his photographs are housed in major exhibitions and collections worldwide, including retrospectives like Art vs. Transit, 1977–1987 at the Bronx Museum, ensuring his legacy as the preeminent visual chronicler of New York’s graffiti and hip-hop era.

Larry Clark is an American photographer and filmmaker known for his unflinching approach to his work. Clark emerged in the 1960s as a pioneering voice documenting youth culture from the inside out. Rather than observe from a distance, he embedded himself within the communities he photographed: skaters, drug users, misfits, and outsiders, offering a perspective that was intimate. His work often draws from his own experiences with addiction, adolescence, and rebellion, making him both a chronicler and participant in the worlds he captures.

Clark’s breakout photo book Tulsa (1971) was a portrait of young people in his hometown navigating drugs, sex, and violence. The book was groundbreaking in its honesty, setting the tone for Clark’s future work. In 1995, he directed Kids, a controversial and iconic film that followed a group of New York City teenagers through a single day of sex, drugs, and recklessness. Written by then-teenager Harmony Korine, Kids was praised and condemned in equal measure, but undeniably influential cementing Clark’s legacy as an artist unafraid to expose the underbelly of youth culture with brutal honesty.

Futura 2000 in conversation with Chino BYI.

Futura 2000 is a legendary graffiti writer, designer, and painter who emerged in the 1970s as part of New York City's first wave of subway graffiti writers.

He began tagging subway trains under the name "Futura 2000" and was one of the first artists to bring graffiti into galleries. In the early 1980s, he collaborated with The Clash, painting live on stage during their concerts and designing artwork for their albums, which helped introduce graffiti to a broader international audience.

His work spans fine art, fashion, and commercial collaborations. He’s partnered with brands like Nike, Supreme, Levi’s, BMW, and Off-White, often blurring the lines between street culture and high design. He’s also known for his character "Pointman", a recurring figure in his art and toy design.

Today, Futura is celebrated as a pioneer whose influence has shaped generations of artists across disciplines.

Dustin Dollin is one of the original members of both Baker Skateboards and the infamous Piss Drunx crew. His parts in Baker 2G, Baker 3 and Volcom’s Let’s Live left a lasting impression on an entire generation of skateboarders. Dollin joined Baker in 1999 and became a defining figure of the crew, creating a legacy as one of the most iconic personalities to come out of skating during his era.

He has also played a vital role in the making of all time classic skate videos like Mind Field, The DC Video and the solo part Dylan. More recently, he has collaborated with Adidas Skateboarding on projects like Kader in New York City.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Hunt began his career as a sponsored skateboarder before transitioning into filmmaking. His early experiences skating in San Francisco during the early '90s influenced his perspective and video-style. 

In addition to his video work, Hunt has engaged in photography, notably documenting skater Jason Dill over 15 years, culminating in a published photo book.

On March 7, 2007, Ali Boulala was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in Melbourne, Australia. Boulala sustained severe head injuries, leading to a coma that lasted four months. He underwent extensive rehabilitation to relearn basic functions such as walking and eating independently. Due to the accident, he was convicted of culpable driving and sentenced to four years in prison, serving two years before being released and deported back to Sweden. The accident had a profound impact on Boulala's life, leading to years of substance abuse and personal turmoil.

In 2013, he began a journey toward recovery and has maintained sobriety since then. Finding new purpose in life and moving forward with a renewed spirit, he has channeled his creative energy into music.

Stigma was involved with Madball, a band fronted by Roger Miret's younger half-brother, Freddy Madball. He also launched a solo project under the name Stigma, releasing albums such as New York Blood and For Love and Glory. 

In 2024, Stigma published his autobiography, The Most Interesting Man in the World. The book delves into his upbringing in Little Italy, his experiences in the hardcore scene, and his passions outside of music, including cooking, acting, and martial arts. 

Stigma remains active in the music scene, performing with Agnostic Front and maintaining a strong presence in the NYHC community.

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Szafranski moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional skateboarding career in the early 2000s; with no defined plan or place to live, he arrived and started sleeping on the streets of Venice. His talent caught the attention of Chad Muska, leading to Szafranski riding for Shorty's and Circa. He later joined Baker Skateboards, becoming a prominent team member and appearing in influential skate videos like "Baker 3" and "Baker Has a Deathwish”.

GIZ MTA is a prominent graffiti writer from New York City. After a lifetime of sacrificing his body, mind and freedom for graffiti, GIZ has arrived at a point where his work is revered from the streets of New York City to the galleries of London, Amsterdam and Paris. 

His story is one of pain, joy and experience. Coming up in a crime-ridden New York City, GIZ suffered multiple stabbings from robberies over gear, served time in prison and lost many friends to street violence.

As a key member of the MTA crew, Most Talked About, GIZ contributed to the legacy of a group that became legend; not only for their volume & visibility, but also the iconic figures within the crew, include the late grate VE, and DESA. 

GIZ transitioned from illegal street graffiti to fine art and sculpture by gradually adapting his techniques into formats that could be appreciated within a gallery setting. His sculpture work brings his throw-up into a tangible, tactile form, adding a new dimension to his art and allowing him to create pieces that resonate within both urban and fine art spaces.

Rooted in a personal connection to manual labor with inspiration from his father’s profession as a house painter, Jerome started Peels to honor the blue-color work ethic. The shirts became popular due to their simplicity and high quality. The hand-sown patches onto work shirts have been worn by the likes of Mark Gonzales, Pete Davidson, Jonah Hill and Ishod Wair.
