The Parallel Four, A Chronicle of friendship, love, war, adventure and destiny.

This story follows the lives of four people born on the same day on 20th December 1956, Stephen and Johan were neighbours in Poplar East London, they were best friends, at the same time Vinka and Marlin were neighbours in Ellios in Sweden. Vinka was Johan’s cousin while Marlin was her best friend.

Stephen and Johan from the age of seven spent their summers and Christmases in Sweden with the girls, as they grew up they became very close. All through their school days all four were very bright children and top in all their classes, they were all good at languages by the time they left school, they could all speak English, Swedish, Latin, French, German, Arabic and Spanish.

Stephen was five foot ten tall with blue eyes and brown hair, Johan was also five foot ten with blue eyes and blond hair, meanwhile Vinka was five foot ten tall with blue eyes and blond hair, Marlin also five foot ten with blue eyes and brown hair. All four of them were extremely good looking.

When they left school the girls joined the Swedish Army in the Intelligence Service as their National Service for one year then they worked for a translating company enabling them to work remotely. Military training for the defence of the Swedish nation and its country is not just a duty but a democratic right. With the catch-phrase of 'one man - one rifle - one vote' the Swedes gained a full parliamentary system at the beginning of this century. Any aggressor should know that a united people stands behind the key words in the political declaration that 'we will, we can and we shall defend ourselves'.

The boys joined the Royal Marines after gaining their green beret they were posted to 40 Commando, where they did two tours of Northern Ireland, two winter exercises in Norway and a Mediterranean exercise in the summer. They married the girls after their first tour of Northern Ireland. They did the first UN Cyprus tour and got the medal having stayed on for a few months to help out 42 Commando.

They left the Royal Marines after four years and transferred to the British Army joining the Royal Anglian Regiment, they were posted to Berlin and had quarter next door to each other. The boys did a promotion course and were promoted to Lance Corporal, later in that tour of Berlin the did Junior Brecon and promoted Corporal. Each couple had twins born on the same day in June 1979, a boy and a girl each.

They then were posted to the Depot The Queen Division as section commanders for two years, they brought their own houses in Hitchin just after arriving. They were posted back to the Battalion in Colchester. They did a tour of Northern Ireland as section commanders before going on to do Senior Brecon and promoted Sergeant The Battalion had been posted to Celle, Lower Saxony in West Germany for at least five years, after the move they did another tour another tour of Northern Ireland as Sergeants before being posted back to the Depot as Platoon Sergeants. When Johan and Stephen returned to the unit in Celle redundancies were being offered.

The girls had joined the TA Intelligence Corps and were attached to C Squadron 21 Special Air Service in Hitchin, while keeping up their translation work. They did a tour of Northern Ireland with the regular SAS and received the General Officer Commanding Northern Ireland Commendation for their work, they then did lots of other work with the regular SAS. In their spare time they brought and did up old racing motorbikes. All four were great Telemark skiers and became instructors. The also gained all their sailing and cruising instructor qualifications.

Towards the end a small group of men goaded some of the crowd by showing knifes and pointing them at the children there, they were chased away followed by the police who were more concerned with the patriots than the protagonists, again a demonstration of the two tier policing.

Inner Monologue is an interview format where I provide a platform for others to share their stories of trial and triumph. Stages, my latest podcast project, is more of an audio diary where I share the journey of my mental health as I navigate grief and the ever-changing stages of life. 

I just published my first book, 2012: A Bicycle Odyssey. It tells the tale of a 7,000-mile cross-country bicycle ride for suicide awareness and the healing power of art.

Towards the end a small group of men goaded some of the crowd by showing knifes and pointing them at the children there, they were chased away followed by the police who were more concerned with the patriots than the protagonists, again a demonstration of the two tier policing.
