Sir Francis Newport:
He was the Director of the British Atheists Club. During his agony, he said to those around his bed, "Tell me not that there is no God, for I am presently in His Presence and do not tell me that there's no hell, because I feel like I'm sliding towards it. King Charles IX:
He was a French,  Catholic king who killed tens of thousands of Protestant Christians in France in 1572, because of religious differences. During his agony, he told his doctors, “I see those I had killed. They pass in front of me, I see I was wrong and I am forever lost.»

David Strauss:
He was a German atheist theologian who died in 1874. During his death, he said: “My philosophy has disappointed me. I feel that I am between the jaws of a machine, equipped with teeth, which could crush me at any moment.»

Joseph Stalin's daughter:
In an interview with the American magazine News week, Svetlana Stalin, daughter of the communist dictator "Joseph Stalin" recounts the moment of her father's death, saying: his death was horrible. At the moment of his death, he suddenly opened his eyes, he threw a mad and grumpy look on all present. He pointed with his left hand at something hovering above us. It was a kind of threat. Then he died.

-With the crackdown on broadcasters and threats of broadcasting licences being revoked, has the USA finally made the move to full-out fascism?

 Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr threatened the broadcast licenses of media stations. He quoted Trump when he posted: “Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions—also known as the fake news—have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not…. It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news.” Then Carr slipped in his own fake news, suggesting that Trump won “a landslide election victory” when in fact he received less than 50% of the vote, and concluded: “Time for change!”

The Framers of the U.S. Constitution understood that a free press is imperative for a democracy. They established the right to a free press in the First Amendment that begins the Bill of Rights. Silencing critics is the refuge of those who know what they are doing is unpopular and unjustifiable.

Jim Acosta, who left CNN, noted that while the administration is attempting to establish a state media, the American people increasingly have the option of reading independent journalism. “Yes,” Acosta wrote, “Trump put me on his media hit list. I regret to report to the notoriously thin-skinned, twice elected, yet soon to be thrice-impeached president that I am still here, loving the freedom of independent media…. Living rent free in the mind of the president of the United States is indeed liberating, especially when you are coloring outside the lines of corporate media.”

Yesterday evening, the official White House social media account on X tried to reassure Americans that Trump knows what he’s doing. It posted an image of the American flag over a stealth bomber with the words “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH” and “NO PANICANS!”

And yet, in what seemed to be panicked comments tonight, Trump on social media appeared to take on the rifts showing up among MAGA leaders over the Iran war, saying of isolationist America First MAGAs: “THEY ARE NOT MAGA, I AM, and MAGA includes not allowing Iran, a Sick, Demented, and Violent Terrorist Regime, to have a Nuclear Weapon to blow up the United States of America, the Middle East and, ultimately, the rest of the World.”

Another post blamed Iranian AI and disinformation for stories that he said are “FAKE and, in a certain way, you can say those Media Outlets that generated it should be brought up on Charges for TREASON for the dissemination of false information.” He reiterated support for Carr’s attack on the media and insisted he won the presidential election “IN A LANDSLIDE.”

Conspiracy theory: The US is trying to onshore European industry and wealth because they see that Europe is a doomed society.

Surprisingly, there's more evidence supporting this theory than I expected.

1. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
   It offers massive subsidies for companies that relocate to the U.S.
   1. Deindustrialisation via Energy Sabotage
      The sabotage of Nord Stream cut off Europe’s access to cheap Russian gas. That devastated German manufacturing competitiveness.
2. War in Ukraine as a European Wealth Drain
   The U.S. sends military aid (paid in IOUs and manufactured gear), while Europe bleeds its industrial base, drains its budgets, and absorbs millions of refugees.
3. Brain Drain and Capital Flight
   Young, talented Europeans are migrating to the U.S. (and not just for sunshine).
4. America's Narrative Control
   U.S. media and think tanks push narratives that Europe is irrelevant or weak.

In a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 7, 2022, Biden declared that if Russia invaded Ukraine, "there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it". - Is this an admission of US guilt?

The comparison between the Marshall Plan and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is complex, with significant differences in scale, financing, and intent. The Marshall Plan, which provided over $13 billion in aid (equivalent to over $150 billion today) to rebuild Western Europe after World War II, was primarily funded through grants and loans with a focus on economic recovery and political stability. 

The BRI is a vast infrastructure project funded largely through loans and foreign direct investment, with a focus on connectivity across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Estimates suggest China has invested more than $210 billion in BRI projects, with Chinese firms securing over $340 billion in construction contracts.

Some analysts have noted that the scale of the BRI is significantly larger than the Marshall Plan, with one comparison suggesting the BRI was "one-twelfth the size of what is being contemplated in the One Belt, One Road initiative" relative to the Marshall Plan.
