As Scott Reames, the keeper of Nike’s history for three decades, recounts, "a day in 1977 when [Rob] Strasser was purportedly in a fit of pique that employees were losing sight of the company’s values, he stormed into his office and pounded out on his typewriter what became a list of 10 bullet points that he felt were the central core of who/what Nike was. He slammed the sheet of paper on the copying machine, made dozens of duplicates and then taped them on office doors and put them on cubicle desks all over the building."

This week, Kevin and Stewart circle back to the list to discuss the ten principles at Nike, assess their corporate viability, and weave in and out of application scenarios for the construction industry. This week Kevin and Stewart have the absolute honor of sitting down with Chris Cassidy, a recent retiree from the Navy following 28 years of service.

After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, Chris served for a decade with the U.S. Navy Seal Teams where he served in Afghanistan merely two weeks after the September 11 attacks. Chris then served for eighteen years with NASA where he participated in three space missions including 277 days in space, 10 EVAs, served as ISS Commander for Expedition 63 which included the historic docking of the Crew Dragon Demo-2.

The team talks through the journey of his life, including his present station as the President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, located in Arlington, Texas.

The Medal of Honor is American's highest recognition of valor in combat as established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1861. The Medal of Honor commemorates those who were willing to risk their lives to protect and serve our country and the ideals we hold most dear.

The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is dedicated to sharing the stories and values of these incredible heroes—and to inspire America to build upon their legacies and the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas will serve as the only national institution dedicated to the stories, impact, and legacy of the service members who went on to become Medal of Honor recipients.

The National Medal of Honor Museum is being constructed by Linbeck, broke ground on March 25, 2022 , and will open in Arlington in 2024.

This week, Kevin and Stewart sit down with Mike Sarraille, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer, a graduate of the University of Texas McCombs Business School, and now a leadership instructor, speaker and strategic advisor for Echelon Front.

Mike served fifteen years as an officer in the SEAL Teams and five years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an enlisted Recon Marine and Scout-Sniper. Mike served in SEAL Team THREE, Task Unit Bruiser alongside Extreme Ownership authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin where he led major combat operations that played a pivotal role in the Battle of Ramadi in 2006.

Mike is the author of The Talent War: How Special Operations and Great Organizations Win on Talent. Thus, most of the conversation centers around hiring, training and retaining top talent and winning the corporate battle for these talented individuals. But naturally, sprinkled in to the talk are great wisdom-nuggets relating to discipline, leadership, challenges of 2020, and lots of cool stories.
