Thank you for joining us today as we are in our new sermon series "The Rooted Experience". This series is based around the 7 Rhythms: Daily Devotions, Prayer, Repentance, Serve the Community, Sacrificial Generosity, Share Your Story, and Worship. The goal is for each person in the church to engage in community together as they connect with God, the church and their purpose!

Major Osei Stewart Kicks-off this series with his sermon " Kickoff and Vision".

1. Buy items for their usefulness - not their status.
2. Avoid impulse buying at all cost.
3. Reject anything that is producing an addiction in you.
4. Develop a habit of giving away your things.
5. Give the first 10% of your income back to God - Tithing.
6. Enjoy the simpler things God has provided.
7. Prioritize God’s Kingdom.

Practical Steps to Confession:

• Start where you are
• Confess Daily
• Be specific about your sins
• Check your attitude 
• Confess to one another

• Ownership - Truth is God is the OWNER of Everything.
• Accountability - There will come a day of accountability when each one of us will be called to give an account on how we stewarded everything we have been given.

• Pray before serving (Esther 4:6)
• Bring what you have to the Lord (Matthew 14:17-18)
• Start within your reach (Matthew 11:1)
• Share the ministry (acts 6:3)

No Spiritual Discipline is more important than Bible Intake.

Bible Intake Challenge:

•Hearing God’s Word

•Reading God’s Word

•Studying God’s Word

•Memorizing God’s Word

•Meditating on God’s Word

•Writing God’s Word

•Applying God’s Word

As we look to 2020, I believe God wants us to have clear vision, more specifically God’s vision, before we move into this new year. 

What’s the big deal about having a clear vision? It means everything. We have a short amount of time on earth and we have to be very intentional about it. 

God’s vision for you:
To grow in Jesus Christ and to help others do the same.

You Don’t Have To Be Afraid

Know Christ - Know Peace

    No Christ  - No Peace

Our response before an Almighty and Worthy God is worship & praise. 

What happens when we praise and worship?

• We Remember
• God’s Power is Revealed
• Place focus back on God
• Brings us to a place of humility
• Praise Invites God’s presence
• Praise unites us as a body of Christ

20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Thank you for joining us today as we continue our  sermon series “Mind Craft: A Study Through Philippians”. Major Debbie Lum shares her sermon from Philippians 4:1-9.

We live in a nation of worriers, we worry about everything. We worry about our health, our finances, our situations.

There is a antidote for worrying and it requires us to have these three practices;
The right kind of praying.
The right kind of thinking.
The right kind of living.

With these right kinds of practices, we will be able to get the peace of God.
The Right Kind of thinking?

1. Whatever is true - Are you speaking the truth?
2. Whatever is noble - Do you think about things that are noble and of serious purpose?
3. Whatever is right - Is it right in God’s eyes?
4. Whatever is pure - Is your thought-life clean?
5. Whatever is lovely - Is it worth talking about?
6. Whatever is admirable - Is it positive?
7. If anything is excellent - Is it morally excellent?
8. If anything is praiseworthy - Is it something that God would approve?

We should give up being worriers, and instead we should become warriors of God.

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

What is it?

• A Supernatural, uplifting emotion that comes from abiding in Christ. 
  • It’s a Fruit of the Spirit and cannot be manufactured on our own. 
• Assurance that the best is yet to come, that God sees you and has His favor on you.
• It’s a divine power that sustains you and influences others towards Christ.

CATCH: It’s something we can lose if we’re not careful.

In the Bible, Paul realized that the most sinister thing that can deny God’s joy is not what comes from the outside, it comes from within ourselves - OUR PRIDE.

1. Resolve that God loves you.
2. Do not try to understand God from the middle of your circumstances.
3. Go to God in scripture, prayer, and the church to provide counsel.
4. Resolve to trust God
5. Wait on the Lord

1. Christianity is not a religion. It's a relationship.
2. God never speaks without a purpose.
3. God is a God who pursues.
4. We don't have quiet times so we can grow to love God. We have quiet times BECAUSE WE LOVE GOD.
5. When we obey God, it says "I LOVE YOU".
